I was predisposed to like this book: I am interested in portraiture, and I am acquianted with one of the authors. I do not think it was bias that caused me to like Jonathan Walz's essay the best; it was the most academic, and his selection of artworks was the most diverse and included more artists with whom I wasn't already familiar. Always great to discover a new artist or author one likes. Extra points for the phrase "flirtatious scallawaggery," Jonathan. I'm looking forward to This Is a Portrait If I Say So.
