As finales to a series go, this book is definitely a grand one. Not only does it have great characters with a lot of depth and bad history who have to go through a LOT of suffering, it ties up all the loose ends very nicely and adds a touch of the mystical which gives the whole world created in this series a very poignant twist.Klaus is probably the most difficult main character to like. Well, he was for me. He seemed very cold and focused only on his duty in the previous books; yes, he is a loyal friend to the Magistrate, but to let that overrule his personal needs to that degree? Not good. What we see in this book is the effect it has on him ignoring his mates as well. Let me tell you that he does redeem himself, in a big way, but not until the very end. So, be prepared to hate him for a long while - and then totally admire him.Clay had my sympathy from the very start. Actually longer than that, since his story starts in volume 4. He comes back here and his suffering deepens. If he wasn't such a great guy with such a big heart, this could have easily ended in a major disaster. Nobody but him would have been able to deal with both Klaus and Ross as mates. Talk about a tough life!Ross also appears in volume 4 and seems to be a total bad guy, a**hole and whatever other name you can think of. Pretty quickly we find out what was going on - and I rooted for him from then on. To have gone through what he has and come out the other end as relatively sane and loving as Ross is a great achievement. This is the final book in the Spirit Wolves series, and that is NOT FAIR! I was just beginning to understand what this is all about and it's the final book? Luckily, I managed to find Scarlet on Facebook, wanting to find out if maybe I had gotten it wrong. Unfortunately, she confirmed that this is, indeed, the final book in the current series. However, apparently she plans spin-offs so that we will see these characters again. That will help.As for this series: I loved it. Bravo Scarlet!

I have fallen in love with the Spirit Wolves series! Ms. Hyacinth has a way of telling her stories that has the reader emotionally involved in each character, moment and obstacle that occurs within the pages. Star-Crossed Mates is a hot read that leads you on a journey of discovery as Ross struggles to come to terms with what he has done, Clay fights for his lovers, and Klaus must understand duty is not everything. If you have followed the series from the beginning you will be happy to know there are repeat characters and some old conflicts that will finally get resolved. For the most part you do not have to read all of the series to understand this novel, but I would recommend you read the previous story as it contains information that is linked with this tale.Danielle Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & MoreOfficial Review @ Coffee Time Romance & More

The best and last book in the series. I really liked this one. I mean who wouldn't feel sorry for Clay...Klaus treated him terribly, making him not like him initially. The plot flow is good, the characters well developed, the story line believable and the tension between Clay, Ross and Klaus realistic. I loved the world building of the spirit wolves and the ferals that the author did. It's made the series come alive and I'm thrilled to learn that she's decided to write a spin-off in the future.

I was actually liking this book better than the earlier ones in the series, except... well, I'll get to that.HERE BE SPOILERS!The series is fun to read, and the world it describes is interesting. However, the whole thing soon becomes way too repetitive, following an almost mathematical formula: mates meet, are shocked that they have two mates, insert half-way-there sex scene, conflict, final sex scene, prologue. This book was, for me, the best in the series... until one of the best scenes in the whole series was almost violently interrupted in order to insert the final sex scene, including a magical teleportation thing that made me face-palm with its sheer ridiculousness. Why not let these trio have a serious moment, deal with things and *then* have their mandatory sex scene? Say, in the next chapter, in the romatic honey moon-esque setting of the tropical island? It'd have worked a lot better.Wolfram is, by far, the best character in the series, at least for me. And even after having a whole book dedicated to him and his mates, he remains an enigma with a lot of questions left unanswered. It was almost as if he was turned into just another random generic lover characters for the particular book that explored his story, which was just a shame. All in all, it was an ok read. Fun to pass the time, but nothing that will alter the course of your life or anything, with a LOT of potential left unexploited.

typical Scarlet Hyacinth serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical Scarlet Hyacinth? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.). out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all serials by UNLESS motivated otherwise by markedly good/bad writing:Scarlet Hyacinthjoyee flynnsunny daylynn hagenstormy glenncarol lynnegabrielle evansi'd apologize for said halfassedness, but i'm not sorry.

5 stars since this is the final book in a great, fun, sexy series. I really enjoyed seeing so many characters back in this final book, and I enjoyed reading what was happening for some of the characters from their perspectives from the forth book. I have really enjoyed this series and look forward to what she comes up with next!

This will be my combined review of all the books in this series.HOLY CRAP!! Where was this lady hidden? I loved the entire series! Amazing storyline - the story line doesn't take away from the romance and neither does the romance take away from suspense and action. All the characters were very well sketched and I had to step away from the books couple of times in order to take deep breaths.

I loved this series very much.Even though, with this particular story, I was shaking my head lots of time.I wouldn't like to go on details, as it would spoil the story. But,this one was the one I like the least.

I thought I was going to hate Klaus but I didn't as much as i thought I was. He had his reasons and I didn't like some of it but it was enjoyable.
