I decided to use my overtime money to take her on holiday. Just the two of us. Somewhere hot and exotic. Somewhere we could rediscover our love for each other. I just never knew she had already moved on. I never knew about him. Not until a friend told me...I don't know if I can win her back. I don't know if I want to either. First things first, though...I need to go and drag her away from his house."* * * * *A Short Story of love and betrayal from Matt Shaw - the author of 'Buried', 'Smile' and 'The Peter Chronicles'....

This was a great read. It's short but has a very cool twist that I never saw coming. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Whether you admit it or not, you know when your relationship is in trouble. The changes start slow, and subtle. For instance – your favorite shirt was ‘accidentally’ ruined in the wash, and, more often than not – your spouse is working late at the office. Then the subtlety starts to wear off and cell phones become more guarded than Fort Knox. Your favorite sexual activity has gone from Slap & Tickle – to Hallway Sex. (HALLWAY SEX: When you pass each other in the hallway, and the conversation consists of… “Fuck you”, “Bite me”, “Asshole”, and finally, depending on where you live, it usually climaxes with either “Cunt”, or “Bitch”.)Brandon & Hollie are going through a rough patch right now. Somewhere deep down, they still love each-other. But, what’s love got to do with it? (It is a second-hand emotion after all.)Brandon was ready to do whatever it took – anything to rekindle that spark, and mend whatever is broken. He was ready, until he discovered that what was broken between them is his trust.Luckily, now there is time to talk.Broken & bleeding inside the wreckage from the accident, Brandon is going to get the answers that he dreads hearing – but HAS to know. This is a very uncomfortable story. You’ll be able to see yourself in both characters, cringing as details continue to be uncovered. Then, when you think the tension has peeked – WHAMO! Matt punches you in the gut with a twist that comes out of nowhere, just like the deer that caused the accident. This is one of the titles that Matt has permanently knocked down to 99¢, even with the sexy new cover art. This story will stick with you a lot longer than that coffee you’re thinking about, and too much caffeine is bad for you!

This is the story of Brandon and Hollie. They have an accident in their car on the way home and are trapped for the night. Whilst waiting for help, they discuss Hollie's recent infidelities. When daybreak comes though Brandon dicovers that things are not at all what they seem....This was a pocket rocket of a short. As usual we are drawn into the characters lives, and made to care about them. Then comes the sledgehammer of a twist in the ending. It's a little different from Matt's usual offerings and shorter than usual but it still works, and works well. A good short, that will appeal to everyone.

Just bombed through this little number while eating my dinner and all I can say is wow. This story absolutely broke my heart and then the ending tore it from my chest and stamped on it. I ended up crying into my pasta. Anything Matt writes turns out incredible, no matter how different it is to his usual stuff. I'm going to let it settle in my mind then read it again. Absolutely amazing.

Hits HomeThe struggle in the car, the emotions, the incident that caused it all- unfortunately too many of us can relate to it all and it hits home. The ending clenched it all and flips your emotions upside down. Loved this short book.

Another gripping read from beginning to end. I always like the way Matt can in such a short amount of time get the reader to know the characters so well. And this book especially makes me want to get to know them more.

A fantastic read. Matt really knows how to write believable raw emotion, how people think, and what they would stay given certain situations. If I was put in the same situation I would no doubt be thinking and saying the same things. The ending? wow.

Fantastic story, brilliantly told, with a gob smacking twist at the end.

Not as gruesome as his usual stuff, but was still very good.
