Jenny McCoy's Desserts for Every Season Reviews
Full disclosure: Jenny is a good friend and I was her recipe tester for this book. What that means is I've made and tasted half of these desserts and can vouch wholeheartedly for how delicious they are! I love Jenny's style-- her desserts are classic, yet inventive, with bold flavors that are still somehow comforting. And best of all, she knows her seasons inside and out. If you don't already have an appreciation for what a real springtime strawberry tastes like, compared to the giant ones you can buy in the middle of winter, then let the seasonal recipes in this book guide the way. There are so many wonderful tastes to discover, but my personal favorite recipes are: Earl Grey Tea-Poached Pears, Buckwheat Honey Ice Cream, Meyer Lemon and Pistachio Tart, Chocolate, Hazelnut and Banana Trifle, Figgy Buckwheat Jam Bars, Beehive Baked Alaskas, Charlotte Russe with Apricot Jam (the BEST), Cherry Cola Sorbet, Honey-Roasted Apricot Parfaits (the second BEST), Strawberry-Mint Shortcakes, Rhubarb Swirl Ice Cream, Peach and Sweet Corn Ice Cream Cake, and the Plum Almond Torte.
Omg yes to a lot these recipes
Just brought this book home from the library and have marked many recipes to try. A beautiful book with recipes that look wonderful and do-able in a reasonably well stocked home kitchen. Love that the recipes are arranged by season. Photos are lovely as are the antique fruit prints. May have to ask Santa for this one!
Wow! Everything in here looks incredibly delicious. I wish I could eat it all.
