I was very surprised by this book. Kidnap stories usually are not my favourite thrillers. And hubby picked this one for me to read by closing his eyes and pointing. That method of choosing usually bombs. There were a few moments where I wanted this book to hurry up but for the most part it was well thought out with lots of cliffhanging moments. It was a tad predictable (and the love scene could have been gotten rid of) but an enjoyable read.
1.5/10 - Worst read of 2017 thus far. Here are a few entertaining spoilers:(view spoiler)[- NYC Homicide detectives do not bother checking a major suspect's alibi in a child murder- NYC Homicide detectives do not know about the Recycle Bin on computers- NYC Homicide detectives do not have the remains of a child murder victim tested to confirm the victim's identity- NYC Homicide detectives give up and close the case on an unsolved child murder if they do not generate a lead in three weeks (hide spoiler)]And in conclusion..."Goddamn you. Who are you? God fucking damn you. Why me? Why me, you son of a bitch!"
Lacy, a news anchor was burned in a car accident that killed her father. She still has dreams of this unknown voice. Suddenly, Lacy's daughter disappears and Lacy begins to get phone calls with the same voice taunting her. Lacy must find the man who has her daughter.
One of those books that you can't put down until the end!!!
I'm reading Burnout right now and it kinda scares me from time to time, yet I can't seem to put it down. I highly recommend it if you're into the murder-mystery stuff.
Lacie Wagner is a up and coming news anchor and single mom who lived through a terrible event in her childhood. The nightmares that have plagued her since that day seem to be coming to life.
