I have to admit, that the title made me read the book. Erik is a vegan werewolf and the friendly chef and owner of the very successful restaurant “The vegan werewolf”. When Dark - a proud Alpha werewolf and of course a carnivore- arrives at the small town, he cannot believe his eyes when he sees the name of the restaurant. And he cannot understand at all Erik. How can a werewolf be vegan? Why a werewolf does not want to be a werewolf? Apparently Eric decided to become vegan when he killed a little bunny.I laughed a lot and I enjoyed this short shifters’ story.

Going into a Sean Michael book, if you've read one before, then you know you're going to get the Growl-Mine-Fuck mantra going. So I'm on board with all the possessive grabby declarations and non-stop fornication; actually, I kind of expect it. Loved the title. Tickled by the concept of a vegan werewolf which while entertaining wasn't fully realized, imo. A couple fails with the veganism that made me think someone doesn't understand the difference between vegetarian and vegan, but then the almond milk appears and I'm going--WTF! How can you get one part of the coffee bit right and then have cream in a sauce and a butter dish on the table? Anyway, other thing that would have benefited from more explanation was Erik's aversion to hunting. Skimmed over way too fast. Reading these books are like theater candy, fun and tasty with just enough sugar to get buzzed.

A vegan werewolf. Yep, you read that right. I was about as incredulous as Dark, the werewolf part of the couple in this book, when I first read it. It's the name of a restaurant in the town Dark has just moved into, and it emits the best smells Dark has ever scented. So, even though he believes he will hate the food he gives it a try. The owner of the place, Erik, is very proud of his food, but he has a secret. One he has been hiding from himself, and when dark uncovers it, Erik is very uncomfortable and denies everything. Both men in this story made me smile. Dark because he is such an alpha wolf, convinced his way is right. He is determined to "educate" Erik and make him see the light. He also keeps mentioning the fact how much he loves Erik's food despite the fact it's vegan and how much he craves a steak in the same thought. Erik is funny because he knows exactly what the secret is he carries, but he refuses to acknowledge it. Even when Dark keeps mentioning the truth, Erik refuses to budge. It's a good thing they are physically so attracted to each other, because it gives them the time they need to figure out the rest of how a relationship is going to work. I you like stories about stubborn alpha werewolves who learn to compromise, if you enjoy reading about men who snarl and growl a lot before they rip each other's clothes off and put love bites all over each other's bodies, and if you're looking for a very funny, highly entertaining and super-hot read, then you will probably like this short story.NOTE: This book was provided by Amber Allure for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.

4.5 Stars.Short, hot, funny and full on Sean Michael.I loved the novella. On a personal note: As a Sean Michael fan, I've read enough about steaks in his books to assume he has enjoyed his share. But as someone who switched to a plant based life over three years ago for the health of it, I've been hoping my favorite authors would do the same. A little selfish of me but I want them healthy and around for a long time to keep me entertained with stories!

Reviewed for Hearts On Fire ReviewsI did have a bit of a struggle with rating this one because at times I didn’t particularly like Dark (to paraphrase Erik, who gets named Dark?). There were times he did not take no for an answer and that made me like him even less. Despite my reservations about Dark, the whole idea of a vegan werewolf, well, that just drew me in. I liked Erik a lot. And his reason for being vegan, even better. “I killed thins. Animals. I woke up and had a rabbit. A little bunny.” He has such a soft heart, Erik. It made me smile when Erik tells Dark that he’s not out. Out of what? The shifter closet. Oh Erik! This is a lot of “pup” and “mate” talk and a LOT of sex for the length of the story but that is something I do expect from Sean Michael so I took that in stride. Their compromise at the end redeemed Dark quite a bit in my eyes.

3.5 stars. Dark, a carnivore through and through, plus Erik, a vegan chef. Not much should come of that, right? But, what we get, is great sex and rough mating. That’s about the whole plot. The characters are done well in terms of accentuating their most defining personality traits. Dark eats meet and is as wild as they come; Erik is a vegan, and suppressed a lot of his true self. Their interaction is hot as Dark is determined to seduce Erik. There’s a lot of sex here, which works for an erotic quickie.I gave this a lower rating, though, because I do not care for anyone who thinks they have the right to tell another how to live their lives just because they have sex together. Dark sneers at veganism, which has been the corner stone of Erik’s life for decades. That condescending attitude drove me up the wall until I hated every word that came out of Dark’s mouth. Why does the man want Erik when he thinks so little of the way he has chosen to live his life? Aggressive control freaks are not my cup of tea.Still, this is a well written story, with engaging dialogue and hot sex. Not bad.

SOO SOO SOO GOOOD!!!!! LOVED LOVED IT! ! I swear this book was not only unique but well written. The fact that the character chef Erik was struggling with his werewolf identity as opposed to his Gay identity was so refreshing. And the author didn't get caught up on werewolf background and history etc. It just WAS and it just WORKED!

The usual excellent HOT Sean Micheals shifter story. My only two complaints are that we never learn why Erik made the choices he did and that there is absolutely no lube use at all (very unrealistic and painful). A perfect guilty pleasure.

You know when you see the title that this book is going to be fun and it delivers. Erik is in all kinds of closets and Dark is just as determined to drag him up and make him love it. I love seeing even Dark being surprised by his feelings and his dedication to make things best for both of them.

This is a typical Sean Michael story, and because I know what to expect before I read any of his books I don't get frustrated or disappointed, I go with the ride and I enjoyed. Plenty nice sex scenes as always, and hardly any plot but, still cute.
