Nineteen-year-old Mary is a typical college student, working occasional shifts at a local diner to make ends meet. There she meets Preston, an older man who sweeps her off her feet almost immediately. But happiness quickly morphs into fear when Mary realizes that Preston’s sexual desires are mingled inextricably with his violent ones. As Preston becomes more and more domineering, never taking “no” for an answer, Mary finds herself torn between her own blind desire and Preston’s terrifying violence. As she begins to view her sexuality as the ultimate form of control, Mary finds herself enjoying even the most depraved encounters. Whether falsely accusing her roommate’s boyfriend of rape or carrying on affairs with married men, Mary gleefully begins flexing her own violent tendencies. With Preston’s brutality escalating, Mary descends into a world where she is teetering on the brink of insanity. Will she ever break free from the cycle of lust and power? Or will Mary go crazy in the process?...

I was very excited to read this book, it actually sounded like an alright romance novel. I was thoroughly disappointed throughout the whole novel and the only reason why I finished it was simply because I always read a book to the end so I can properly say I didn't like it. The characters were horribly portrayed and unmemorable. I read this a while back and I cannot remember any of the characters, other than the fact that the main woman was highly disturbed. I do not recommend this book to ANYONE. Whether they are a fan of Trisha, as I am, or not. It simply was horrible.
Awful! Awful! Awful! Awful! That's all i can say! this was possibly the worst book I've ever read...
The protagonist commits rape and subsequently murder with a butter-knife. No further comments.
this book……. classic….elelgance….style…beauty…..grace….dignity……wonder……. didn't put it down one time and then read it 13 more time in a day yes much yes so wewfweioiowhowhoi
Surprisingthis might be trisha paytas niche. this was an awesome read! just like her other books it was hard to put down. I would say some of her life peeked through a bit with the stripping and desire for older men. overall it was a good read. the only thing I would say is that she added more detail to some parts. like she really could have extended Mary's imprisonment, some of the sex scenes and she could have given more history on her relationship with her parents and Gwen. the imprisonment scene also kind of reminded me of gone girl but sicker sadness detailed.
Only read this book because I am a fan of Trisha's YouTube, finished it in a couple hours and was not impressed. I mean, it was okay at best but lacked depth and description in a lot of places, especially with the characters introduced, most of them unnecessary. I know a friend of mine wants to read this, hopefully she'll enjoy it so it wasn't a complete waste of money.
