Can you imagine being Amish but loving an Amish man who wants nothing more than to race cars? in the Englisch world? Can you imagine having loved a boy since you were both little and now having to plan to give him up? We think we have it hard in the Englisch world and yet, these problems seem to be very very worrisome. Luke and Emily are faced with this difficult situation even though they both care very much for each other, will it ever work out? And to top it all off, Emily's father is the Amish bishop! While Luke is away racing cars and learning to love the Englisch world, Emily befriends Elam Rhiel's entire family and helps the family out of a tough medical situation with Elam's father. She falls in love with Elam's father and the whole family in the process, and will she fall in love with Elam as well? Will they be able to make a relationship where Emily can remain among the Amish she dearly loves? or will Luke come back to stay and change everything? I loved this book and have to admit that I fell in love with the entire Rhiel family as well. I rate this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers. I received a free pdf version of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I just enjoyed my second visit in Wells Landing, and can’t wait and hope for another visit here. This story could be in any culture, where your love of many years decides to leave and find himself, this just happens to be an Amish community.Emily Ebersol has been love with Luke Lambright for as long as she can remember, when he decided he needed to go English, she is devastated, and although she cannot leave her life and family, keeps hoping that Luke will return. We then meet an Amish man a few years older than Emily that has been in love with her for as long as he can remember. Is this the chance that he has been hoping for? Emily’s father is the Bishop and doesn’t approve of Luke, even more so now, and he likes Elam Rhiel. As we live among the Amish in this community I loved the interactions between Emily and Elam’s father James. Such caring and love here, and they sure loved the color purple, and the purple party, so very sweet. In the end will Emily agree to leave with Luke who has come back to get her, or will her faith be strong enough, and she be mature enough to stay and maybe find a new love? You won’t regret reading this one, as it is awesome.I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.

Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son-a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!I love homemade tacos, shoes, and romance novels-not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twilight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)My Review: Amy Lillard is a really great lady as well as author. I have had the privilege of being on her Street Team, for awhile now. She is a great lady to work with! In Courting Emily, we are taken back to Wells Landing which is book two in the series. I loved following Emily's life, and the plans that she felt were hers to own. But as God faithfully reminds us, his plans are always better. As Emiy took each turn on the journey that she felt was handpicked for her, only to actually find each one met a dead end---it is soon revealed the special one God chose to be the one to own her heart. The chemistry between Elam and Emily was one of true love that can be felt through the pages of Courting Emily. Their romance feels much like the one that I share with my beloved. Courting Emily is a good stand alone book, but it was also a great continuation of the series. Can't wait to read Lorie's Heart set to release in September 2015.**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.

Emily Ebersol loves Luke Lambright and has for as long as she can remember. She wants to marry and raise a family of her own. Luke loves Emily but he also loves race car driving. He leaves Emily and the Amish life to pursue a career as a race car driver. Elam Riehl has loved Emily for as long as he can remember but has said nothing about his feelings because everyone knows Emily loves Luke. Elam also has the responsibility of caring for his family since his father's accident that left him childlike. Emily and Elam become close after she goes to the Riehl's house to help out. Can Elam win her heart or will the return of Luke ruin everything?I really enjoyed this sweet Amish romance from Amy Lillard. Amy is a new-to-me author and I like her writing style. This was an easy to read book with a slightly different tone than other Amish books I've read. It has a bit of a contemporary flair but still stays true to the Amish fiction that we have all enjoyed reading. The characters in the book are all likable and well-rounded. Amy has written them so you can relate to them and their life. I must admit Elam wasn't my favorite at first but he softens up throughout the book and I soon wanted him to be the winner of Emily's heart. This story is set in Wells Landing, Oklahoma, which isn't your typical Amish fiction setting. I liked this. It was nice to see a book set in a place other than the typical Amish settlements. I would definitely recommend this book and will be reading more from Amy Lillard. She has made me a fan with this book!

I am so happy to return to Wells Landing! Courting Emily is book two in the series, but if you have not read book one, don’t worry. This book is a great stand-alone book, as well. But I am glad to have read book one, Caroline’s Secret, because the main characters from that book do make a few appearances and I am thrilled to have gotten another peak into their lives. This is such a great book! Emily is a girl with two men who love her. But there is only one man that Emily has loved for as long as she can remember. His name is Luke and he has left the Amish community of Wells Landing. Now Emily is left to go on without him. I really felt for Emily. Luke tells her he loves her and that she is important to him, but then takes off to follow his dreams, leaving Emily behind.Elam is the other man who loves Emily. He is a young man with a whole lot of burdens and responsibilities weighing him down. His father is no longer capable of running the family farm and Elam has taken on all of the duties as head of his family. He appears stern and solemn to Emily, very unlike Luke. When it becomes clear that Elam has adored for Emily for years, will she be able to let the idea of one man’s love go, in exchange for the love of a man who is still a part of her community? Who does God truly intend for her?I loved these characters! A great theme ran through this book. If the love is true, it can be expressed by that person being willing to do what is best for the one they love. This is shown in actions by all three of the characters of Luke, Elam, and Emily, as well as in the treatment of Elam’s father. What is the family willing to do to help him and how can they express their love in his care? Emily does a lot to open their eyes to what he needs. The characters feel very real in Courting Emily. There are not quick and easy solutions to situations. There are misunderstandings and sometimes it takes awhile for true feelings to make themselves known. I loved this book from start to finish and read it every chance I got! I definitely recommend this story and the Wells Landing series to fans of Amish fiction.I would like to express my thanks to the author for the complimentary ARC copy of this book that I received. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.You can read this review on my blog at:https://brittreadsfiction.wordpress.c...

Beautiful Story!Emily Ebersol had a plan. She and Luke Lambright, her childhood sweetheart, would be married and live out their days in the close knit Amish community of Wells Landing, Oklahoma. At least, those were her plans before Luke decided that racing cars was more important than living out his days as Emily's husband in Wells Landing. And yet Emily still believes Luke will return. But, she soon discovers that the longer he stays away, the less likely it is that he'll return. The fact of the matter is that the only one who is unhappy about Luke's decision to stay away is Emily. Her father, the Bishop, is not the least bit sad about Luke's choice, and he suggests to Emily that she move on. He even suggests a probable candidate: Elam Rhiel. Elam, isn't the least bit sad that Luke is gone either, but at the same time, he knows Emily still loves Luke, which will make it difficult for her to see him, Elam, in a different light. And thus begins the friendship between Emily and Elam, except that it doesn't begin in a way that one would expect. I really enjoyed how the author went about developing the relationship between Emily and Elam. She introduced some interesting secondary characters that contributed much to the story without taking away from the main characters. Amy Lillard has woven a story that is just beautiful. It's funny, sweet and romantic, but still has enough angst that will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering how it will all turn out. It's also a story of how having a servant's heart impacts others and the importance of seeking God's will. I love a book that makes me fall in love with the characters and makes me feel what the character's are feeling. Courting Emily did just that. It truly is a beautiful story!***I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and view points are my own.

Courting Emily ( Wells Landing Book 2 )By: Amy LillardCourting Emily is the second book in the Wells Landing series . Amy Lillard has did it again. I thought after Caroline's Secret, the first book in the series, that Courting Emily could not be better. Well, I was wrong, the series keeps getting better with each book. Amy Lillard has got herself a winner. I loved it and when I started reading it , I did not want to put it down till the last page. As we return to Wells Landing in Oklahoma, Emily Ebersol is an Amish woman who has loved Luke Lambright as long as she can remember. Luke decides to leave the Amish life. Emily don't know what to think or do. She loves Luke and wants to be with him, but she loves her family and the Amish life. Emily hopes Luke will return , but while she is waiting another Amish man , Elam Rhiel, catches Emily attention. He has always loved Emily, but she has always loved Luke. Will Luke come back for Emily, if he does who will she choose? Can Elam love Emily knowing she still loves Luke? I really loved this book and at times I was laughing and at times I was saying NO don't do that. I can't wait to read the next book in Wells Landing series. I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley and the author for my honest review, which I have given.

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not!I love author Amy Lillard’s Amish Fiction Books. Her books have a way to capture my interest from the first couple of pages. I haven’t read a single book of hers that I have not enjoyed. In the story of Courting Emily I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Emily Ebersol and James Riehl. It made me feel good that Emily was able to help James have a life again.Luke Lambright has been the love of Emily’s life since childhood. Elam Riehl has been in love with Emily for a very long time. Elam has never shared these feelings with anyone.Emily is easy to love. She has a lot going for her but doesn’t realize it. Is love enough? Is it enough to change a person? Does she realize that sometimes we just have to let go of a dream?Luke and Elam, are different as night and day. Makes for an interesting story.Author Amy Lillard once again gives us the spiritual aspect that I as a follower of Christ loves to read in Christian fiction. Prayer, forgiveness, love, and trust are a must have for me. This book has it all.Author Amy Lillard’s Amish fiction stories keep getting better and better.I was given an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review. Courting EmilyBy Amy LillardI love Amy's books. She writes good strong characters that you just grow to love. Courting Emily is book 2 in the A Wells Landing Series. I think you could read this one as a stand alone though. But if you haven't read the first one please go back and read it you will be glad you did. The story takes place in Oklahoma at Wells Landing. Emily is so in love with Luke but he likes things that is of the English world not theirs. He leaves Wells landing to pursue his dream of racing cars. She has another suitor Elam who is trying to win the heart of Emily. Luke does return now she has decisions to make. Will she still have love enough in her heart to go with Luke or will she wed Elam? Will Emily hold to her faith and do the right thing? Will she let God direct her to the path she should follow? This is a great series. Looking forward to book 3.I was given this book by the author to review for my own honest opinion.

My Thoughts On The Book: I did not read Lillard's first book in the series, but it was not necessary to do this. This book stands alone and is wonderful. Lillard is great at developing her characters and making them come alive on the page. I got so angry at Emily when she took so long to realize where true love was actually waiting. I loved the interaction between Jame's and Emily. His childlike demeanor and her kindness melted my heart. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I cannot wait until August 15 to get my hands on Lorie's Heart, another Amish romance by Lillard.Disclaimer: I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington as part of their Blogging for Books program, and was not required to give a positive review.

Amy Lillard’s newest Amish novel, Courting Emily (Zebra Books), is an exceptional book for Amish fiction fans. The novel is authentically written, and is captivating with romance, conflicts, and inspiration. Of particular interest is the careful and tender way in which Amy handles a brain injury victim. As always, it is inspiring how Amy writes of the Amish coming together to help and forgive one another.Emily Ebersol, in her early 20’s, has been in love with Luke ever since they were schoolmates together and likewise, Luke loves Emily. Emily is the bishop’s daughter and feels the pressure of measuring up to his high standards for behavior. Luke feels a calling to leave the Amish community behind and to live with the Englischers. Luke’s goal is to make a lot of money driving racecars. He begs Emily to leave the Amish behind and go with him to live among the Englisch but Emily has already taken the kneeling vow. Luke has not been baptized yet so he feels free to go as he wouldn’t be shunned if he came back to the Amish.Emily doesn’t know how she will go on with Luke gone. He was her whole life. Her father reminds her that Luke brought shame onto his family and Amish community by leaving. He advises Emily to move on and wisely tells her to leave her heart open for a new man. But Emily continues to pray that the lure of the Englisch world will dull for Luke and that Luke will come home to their Amish community in Wells Landing, Oklahoma. Will it be possible for Luke keep his promise to return for Emily?Bishop Ebersol decides to have a work frolic at the dairy farm of James Riehl, an Amish father who suffered a severe brain injury in an accident. James’ family have tried to keep the farm going and keep James well cared for, but things aren’t like they use to be when James was healthy. Because of James brain injury, he sometimes seems more like a child than an adult. This embarrasses the family; they seem to want to keep James away from the public and hidden in his bedroom. At the work frolic, Emily and James Riehl’s oldest son, Elam have a confrontation. Elam objects to the way Emily treats his father; Elam feels that his father needs to rest and stay in his bedroom. Emily feels that James needs to be around people, enjoy the sunshine and company. It seems that everything that Emily does, Elam objects. Emily isn’t about to give in to Elam and Elam isn’t about to stop protecting his father. Can these two start working together to help James recover from his injury?Courting Emily realistically works through Emily’s feelings for both Luke and Elam with several convincing twists and turns before the happy conclusion to the novel. Amy Lillard beautifully weaves the theme of forgiveness throughout Courting Emily. This book was published on January 6, 2015.

I have to say this is one of the best Amish romance books I've read so far. The author, Amy Lillard, draws you into this romance story with wonderful detailed descriptions. It was those descriptions like, the work that Emily did everyday, Luke's car racing, or even the ping of a stone hitting a window, that made me feel as though I was right there with them. I just kept turning the pages wanting to know more.I loved reading about the budding romances but I was particularly drawn to Elam's father James in this story. His strength and humor in the midst of his own set of problems spoke to my heart.I didn't even realize that this was the 2nd book of the Wells Landing series because it stands alone. Although now of course I can't wait to read the first one!I was given this book by the author in exchange for my honest review

What an awesome book! I love and enjoyed reading Courting Emily. The author is excellent with her style of writing that I became involved in the story and it totally captured my attention. The book is well-written with great details and wonderful characters. There is so much more to this storyline than a love triangle between Emily, Elam and Luke. I highly recommend reading Courting Emily by Amy Lillard. I believe you will enjoy reading this book.I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKWe return to the good Amish folks in the Wells Landing community of Oklahoma for Emily’s story. Being a Bishop’s daughter, Emily Ebersol was sure to marry a good standing Amish man and live happily ever after as an Amish wife. But when her longtime childhood sweetheart, Luke Lambright fell more in love with racing cars than her, and left the Amish faith, Emily’s world was shattered. Then Emily started spending time at the Riehl house helping out because James Riehl had been injured, thus spending time with James’ son Elam. Could Elam be the man for her since Luke never returned home? But then suddenly Luke does return home and Emily’s life is in a whirlwind! This story takes a different twist that the first book. Emily and Luke had been sweethearts since childhood, so it was no question that they would marry when they were old enough, but then Luke has to jump the fence, taking care of that! I enjoyed the time Emily spent at the Riehl home, because she was so good to the dad, James. James’ family had had him closed up in his dark bedroom since his injury, not wanting him to have a life. Emily had a different idea, and started bringing James out of his dark den, making Elam furious. But James loved it, causing a lot of tension in this household! I loved James’ character. He was fun, and so adorable after Emily started letting him out into the house more. But I don’t want to say any more, because you need to read the book to see what happens! And if you enjoy Amish fiction, this is a must read for you! And check out books One and Three in this same posting.I received this book from the author to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

Imagine being a young, Amish female, who is the oldest of the bishop's daughters still at home. You have your heart pinning for a certain young, Amish male, who is in love with cars and he's wanting to follow that dream. What do you do? go or stay? This is just one of many issues Emily Ebersol is facing in this book Courting Emily. This was my first time reading Amy Lillard's work and yes, I read this book out of order, but I was not lost in what I was reading. Amy Lillard did a great job of writing, so that the story flowed just right and I was on the edge of seat a few times while I was reading. A few times I was giving Emily heck on her choices and I was laughing in parts too. I look forward to reading more of Amy's books in my future.I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. No money was exchanged. This is my honest review in my own words.

I found myself thinking about Emily and Elam long after I finished their story. I was totally invested in their lives and was cheering for them the whole time I was reading. Often, I was yelling at Emily not to make the choices she was making and sometimes I was laughing out loud at the things she was saying. COURTING EMILY is filled with love, forgiveness, letting go, and romance. I loved the interaction between Emily and Elam's father James. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. Amy Lillard's writing held me captive from the very first page until the last page. I can't wait to read the next book in the Wells Landing series.Note: I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks NetGalley!I didn't realize this was a sequel but I didn't feel like I was missing parts of the story-so it could be read as a stand alone.Emily has been in love with Luke as long as she can remember, she is devastated when she hears that he wants to leave the Amish to become a race car driver. Emily just knows that he will come back because she has never loved anyone but Luke, and he must feel the same for her. Emily's father however has a different plan for her, and it involves doing service for Elam-a twenty-five year old bachelor and helping his family find a new perspective after an accident leaves them with no hope.

A lovely read that is pure romance from beginning to end. That doesn't mean it's easy. In fact, this love story is angst-riddled. But it is a tale that focuses on love. Elam's is unrequited, Emily's is misplaced and Luke has taken it for granted. So many scenes made me squirm as my romance loving heart agonized over how they'd work things out. I was held captive even though I got to a point where I just didn't want to read any more because I could clearly see how devastating it was going to get before things finally turned around. Talk about nail-biting and tummy-churning! Of course, I loved every minute of it, and magnanimously forgave the author any discomfort once I reached the end.

I absolutely loved this book. This book may just be my favorite of hers (as of right now...). I loved it so much! It had such a different take on Amish family life (with Elam's father) and all of the characters were so enjoyable. Read it! I have become such a huge Amy Lillard fan not only because she is a fabulous writer but she is such a wonderful person and so appreciative of her fans.

More great reading from Amy Lillard!Another wonderful Amish novel from Amy Lillard! I've come to really enjoy Amy Lillard's Amish stories, eagerly awaiting each new one. Sometimes it seems like if you've read one Amish story you've read them all, but Amy's are different, fresh, and interesting. I liked the first book in the Wells Landing Series but I think I liked Courting Emily even better. Emily has a lot to live up to, her family's expectations, and since her Dat is the bishop those of her community. But navigating life can sometimes get a little tricky and it's hard to know what the right choice is. I think one of my favorite parts of the story was the sweet and touching interactions between Emily, Elam's father James, and Elam's sister Johanna. Emily is determined to help James and the rest of the Riehl family whether Elam is quite ready for her or not.A sweet story of growing up a little, finding out what true love is, sacrifice, and family. Courting Emily is a must read for any fan of Amish fiction!(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)

Moving on takes a leap of faith…Luke Lambright was supposed to marry Emily Ebersol. After all, they had talked about getting married since they were in school together, making plans to always be together. Then Luke decided he wanted to experience Englisch ways… movies, dances, and cars. When he told Emily he wants to drive a racecar, and was determined to leave, he broke Emily’s heart. Even worse, he tried to talk her into going with him!But when she stays behind, will she ever let anyone else get close? When Luke comes back to visit, will he decide to stay — or will he convince her to go back with him?Amy Lillard does such a great job portraying the Amish and Englisch lifestyles, and the temptations of each. Some people may not think the Amish lifestyle is tempting, but many Englischers are seeking a plainer, simpler life…Don’t miss this exciting series, found in the wonderful (fictional) community of Wells Landing.Happy Reading!!!

Courting Emily is the second book of Amy Lillard´s Wells Landing series and I have enjoyed it as much as the first one, Caroline´s secret.Emily, the bishop´s daughter, is in love with Luke Lambright, but while she plans a wedding and family life, he is much more interested in racing cars. When he decides to leave the community to pursue his dream, Emily is heartbroken, but still hoping that he will eventually come back.In the meantime, she develops a special connection to Mr. Rhiel - a member of their community disabled after an injury. Where his eldest son Elam and the rest of the family see only limitations, Emily sees a potential. Elam, who had to fill in for his father and become the provider , is infuriated by Emily´s ideas and actions; but at the same time, he certainly has a soft spot for her.I appreciated the well flowing story touching the topic coming to terms with a sudden change in a beloved person caused by medical reasons - in this case, an injury-induced mental disability. Amy Lillard is very good in describing feelings and insecurities of Mr. Rhiel´s family. And of course, there is a romance with a believable, natural conclusion.I am definitely hoping for another book of Wells Landing series.I was offered a free copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received an advanced copy of this ebook from Kensington Books Publisher and NetGalley.comI did not know this was a book series and I had not read the first of the series. I feel like this book was a great book for a stand alone novel (I never felt lost on who the characters was or what had happened in the prior book). We met Emily who is in love with Luke but he decides to live the Amish life to race cars in the English world. Emily is heartbroken but she knows she can never leave her Amish life and her family behind. She believes Luke will come back to the Amish life. While she is waiting for him she meets the Rhiel family and falls in love with them all except for their son, Elam, who has a problem with her being there so much around his family. Luke comes back but things are no longer the same for Emily and him. I enjoyed this book so much and it was a great read. I will be reading more from this author for sure.

Emily and Luke have liked each other for years, but instead of joining the church Luke wants to race cars. Emily is the bishop's daughter and she has no interest in leaving the Amish community. She is still holding out for Luke, but Elam has entered the picture. His household is in a state of disarray since his father has a near fatal accident. Emily first falls in love with the family and then Elam. It is touch and go for a while but in the end Emily and Elam get married.
