Tarah Scott is one of those authors that constantly has you thinking about what could possibly happen next. She did not disappoint with TO TAME A HIGHLAND EARL. Miss Eve Crenshaw awakens to find a rather bulky body on top of her in her bed. Before he knows it, Lord Erroll Rushton has a pistol firmly sticking into his ribs thanks to Eve. When her family burst into the room to find Eve in a compromising position with Rushton, her father insists upon a wedding. Eve's younger sister, Grace Crenshaw cries foul because she wants him for her husband, going so far as to concoct a story that she was compromised by the Earl. Oh boy. Neither Erroll nor Eve wants to marry anyone, but Erroll especially doesn't want to marry Grace who is just a little too eager. Eve devises a plan to get Erroll to Gretna Green and married to her younger sister all the while ignoring the little voice in her head telling her to open her eyes to the attraction she has for him. Of course her harebrained plan backfires and places her in an odd spot. Two stubborn people constitute one very exciting tale by Tarah Scott with TO TAME A HIGHLAND EARL. I have to say I so wanted to hit Eve over the head a few times to say nothing of the persistent sister, Grace. I loved Erroll from the first. Rogue that he is, I found him quite honorable and committed once he realizes what has to be done. This tale is like no other. I love that about Tarah Scott, she always brings something fresh to whatever subject she writes about.

Review for: To Tame a Highland Earl This is one of the best books I have read from Tarah Scott and that is saying something...she writes really good highland books!!! This is the first book in the"MacLean Highlander " series. I found it to be a stand alone book, so don't worry if you are reading them out of order. This book made me laugh, cry and just fall in love with both characters!! The hero is Lord Erroll Rushton is both a highlander and a Englishmen. He is torn between to worlds. Our heroine is Miss Eve Crenshaw who has been compromised when Lord Erroll broke into her room at night. Eve is refusing to marry him due to the fact she wants a marriage of love. This sets off the story of our hero trying to bring Eve to agree to marry him.https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1... https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/A2H... https://twitter.com/soapsrus68https:/... https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...

I was caught in the web of Eve and Erroll right from the start. I laughed all the way through the first chapter at the situation they found themselves in, all because of a lie by her sister Grace told. Eve is the eldest daughter of a Baron who has made a mistake in trusting a man in her past that has tarnished her reputation. Erroll, the Scottish Earl of Rushton is a rake, with no wishes to marry. He has strong ties to England and Scotland. Then there is Grace who has ambitions to marry Erroll and lies about being compromised. And you must throw in Lord Somerset into the mix - he has offered several times for Eve's hand in marriage which she has refused. This is the beginning of a fun, witty story that has Erroll breaking into the bedroom of Grace to confront her only to find Eve. A shooting, lies, kidnappings, duel, piracy and a wedding will keep you entertained as you read this well written book. Who will end up with the Earl? Get your copy of To Tame a Highland Lord to find out for yourself.I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review.

When Errol tries to break into the room of the woman who has falsely claimed that he compromised her, he is shot by her fiery sister and gains a brand new fiancé, her sister Eve. This book starts out with a hilarious scene of mistaken identity and a man put into an untenable position who finds himself in love despite himself. When his newly discovered love is rejected by Eve, who has no intention of marrying, Errol sets up an elaborate plot to ensure that she cannot escape marrying him. This book is passionate, funny and has an engaging cast of characters that you cannot help but love! You will love this book!

Absolutely Enchanting!I have to say this is the most captivating story starting from the beginning to the very end. I have never been so intrigued in a cast of characters that made a story so fun. I wanted the story to last forever. The story is filled with scandalous drama and humorous situations that will have you belting with laughter throughout the whole story.Eve and Erroll are a perfect match. Erroll is the perfect sexy rake who loves women, well women who know he has no intentions of having any strings attached – LOL I loved Eve, she was definitely a spit fire English woman and could see right through Erroll’s charms when she wasn’t scheming her own maneuvers to get out of a forced marriage with him. Their adventure is truly engaging as sparks fly between them. The author does a great job building their chemistry towards friendship and trust making their union in the end sizzle off the page. (Heat Level 3 Flames). All I can say is that Erroll’s seduction skills will make your heart skip a beat while the thought of his voice sends chills and radiates a fire like sensation through your whole central nerve system making your core quiver with want. The secondary characters – Their fathers, mother, sisters, brothers, and other family and friends were just as humorous as the sparks flying through Eve and Erroll. I loved them all and how they added fuel to the fire when it came to the rumors and trying to get the marriage contract signed by both members. Funny how rumors spread and seem to add farfetched truths by the time it comes back around to everyone involved in the first place. As always the writing is brilliant with visionary scenes that make you want to live in their highland world. Maybe even have an Earl or two ravish you while you are there too – LOL The ending had the perfect climax making me shed a happy tear with an emotional satisfaction. (Sighing) True love is one way to tame a Rakish Earl - LOL I look forward to hopefully seeing more of these awesome characters and seeing them grow. I highly recommend all of Tarah Scott’s work to all romance lovers. Absolutely Enchanting! **Copy provided by Author for a Fair and Honest Review**

I feel like I read a different book after reading so many of these 5-star reviews. I have to be honest and say I didn't even finish it. Sad thing is, I really liked the sample I read. The beginning was really good, it just started to go downhill after that and get too ridiculous for me.

Received an ARC for my fair review for netgalley. This was chaos at its finest. It was really all over the place. I did like Eve, she was a strong heroine, she slept with a gun, and used it. I did however hate her sister, Grace, what an obnoxious individual, god I just wanted to reach in the book and slap her. But it goes to show you that the author did a good job there in portraying her part, that you actually despise her. I enjoyed Eve's interactions with Rushton, they were enemies, to barely friends, to then lovers. But, again, stupid Grace, ruined the majority of story, with kidnapping, underhandedness, come on now get a grip. It was also amusing in some parts, so give it a chance.

I always love Tarah Scott books and her latest book To Tame A Highland Earl is no different as it was as captivating and entertaining as always. Portion are hilarious, heartwrenching, mysterious, devious, and sigh loving and sexy. Ms. Scott's books are always wonderful! It starts out being at wrong time and wrong place or perhaps the wrong time at the right place. As the fortune hunting Grace Crenshaw starts a horrible rumor and lie so she can marry for title and position about Lord Erroll Rushton known rakehell that has no desire to marry and as he is know as having slept with half the women of the ton. He intend to give the little liar a good setting down he has never even met as for trying to force his hand. The thing is he enters the wrong sisters room and gets a gun to his gut and then things starts to spiral from there. As he is caught on top of the older sister in her bed in her bed chambers as her entire family looks on! Now one of them truly is compromised just as the younger sister fibbed about except its with the older sister Eve who will only marry only marry of love and fidelity or not at all!Of course you can feel the attraction between Eve Crenshaw and Erroll Rushton immediately but also you can feel her mistrust as you see how he is changing or maybe the better word is growing up. Also Eve had been betrayed by a past love and also had a taste of how the the ton turns on what they consider ruined women and will do just about anything to save her younger sisters reputation even if it means ruining her own once again.Erroll sees the type of women she truly is and finds he likes it and for once in his life the one women he seriously wants doesn't want him. So how can two such opposites come together but then again you know what they always say about rakes that they make the best husbands. Will she give him the chance and what about her spoiled younger sister she has the life of herself and The Lord Rushton all planned out! Eve would never hurt her sister. So many surprises, mistakes and complications which made this book very hard to put down as never knowing what was going to happen next. Of course that's what I love when reading a wonderful fascinating and captivating reads as ToTame a Highland Earl was. I look forward to reading more books in this new Maclean Series as always I loved this book and definitely recommend this book as it was an extraordinary fun read!

I received my copy in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.*excuse me a moment as I climb off the roller coaster of a ride, as I calm my heart taking in a deep breath of fresh air*It’s been way to long since I’ve read a HR …. I think my brain has been needing a time off from my usual genre’ because it was an amazing to read “To Tame a Highland Earl”!!! I loved it immensely, having lived in both Scotland and England it was like taking a trip down memory lane, back in time to so many thoughts and memories of my child/YA age also my heritage. I cold place myself so easily in both the countries, wow talk about a flash from the past.Author Tarah Scott has captured both countries so beautifully with her spectacular writing style. The story flowed effortlessly just like you were taking a nice easy quite boat ride down a lake… so relaxing or so you though as you are thrown onto a roller coaster as the characters take things into their own hands.Tarah, I loved all the characters in To Tame a Highland Earl, but my favorites are both Eve and Erroll, they both we’re so dynamic in the roles that you built for them, yet the other characters equally carried their place with the story line. Not realizing just how much I had missed and loved Historical Romance as a read, it took me by shock, but a nice shock when I found how much I actually enjoy reading this story. I must say that your writing style, the ease at which the story seems to move across the pages reminds me of my favorite author from back when I was in my early 20’s into my mid-thirties, and that author is Johanna Lindsey. I devoured every book she had written. You have rekindled my love for HR, and I have now added the rest of your novels to my TBR list on goodreads.Tarah all your characters are described so clearly that you could say almost that you know them. Both lead heroines are strong with their straight forwardness in their roles. Eve is so dang head strong with her choices in life, with a nice bit of sassiness thrown in to complete her as my favorite within this novel. Then coupled with Erroll it makes the perfect match as the dynamic duo that makes this novel stand out, to make readers say that yes they will most definitely read more from you as the author of the amazing story in which I just completed.EVE: Strong willed and head strong with a bit of sassiness Erroll: Macho highland Earl, knows what he does and doesn’t want- marriage, put them both together and stand back to watch the fireworks begin with a grand explosion at the end. A perfect couple combination for a spectacular novel.“To Tame a Highland Earl” was a much needed refreshing breath of air, a wonderful delightful read. I look forward in the chance of getting to read more of Tarah Scott’s novels. And thank you for reintroducing HR back into my reading choices.I would honestly, and highly recommend this novel as a MUST READ to all readers who love HR, even to others like me who definitely welcome a nice change from they normally read.Recommend: 16 and upRating: 4.5/5 angel starsAAR

I was debating between 2 and 3 stars but settled on 2 in the end. The book started out alright. But it went downhill quickly with all the kidnapping. Hero was kidnapped, wanted to kidnap someone, was told to kidnap someone, heroin planned on kidnapping hero, ended up being kidnapped but oh no no no, not by the hero but by a sleezeball. I don't know how many times Tarah Scott wants to use kidnapping as a ploy. Heroin eloped with someone else years ago and ended up unmarrigable. Now her sister wants to marry the hero and lied to reach the goal. Hero is pissed off and entered the heroin's room by mistake and is forced to marry the heroin but he doesnt want to and the heroin does not want to marry him. Another man wants to marry the heroin but ends up wanting to marry her sister as a lame secondary romance. blah blah blah. Seriously that is the entire book. Someone is kipdnapped and someone has to marry someone they don't want to and they do something stupid about it. Something then has to be done to rectify the situation. One second they are in the carriage and later they are on the ship. The hero is Scottish but he acts English and he is called laird but he sounds like an English lord. But he was also a navy officer so yeah it has a navy flair to it too (at this point I was asking myself oh so now this is piraty book too??) At about 83% hero and heroin finally get together and all there is is sex. The reviewers who gave 5 stars, pray tell me what you saw in this book? I went through the book in 3 hours because there is just so much crxp that you can afford to skip (so I did). The one good thing about it is that the lead characters are not unlikable. Overall a very messy book.

Tarah Scott's newest pair of mismatched aristocrats are an absolute delight!!!! Erroll is on a mission to once again remove his head from the marriage chopping block. Surprisingly enough this time he has neither compromised, nor met the lady in question who is accusing him of dastardly deeds. Unwilling to face the consequences of his falsely accused crimes, he decides to take matters in his own hands and confront the "lady" in question. Unfortunately, Erroll makes a slight miscalculation and ends up in more trouble than he bargained for.Eve was a completely delightful character. The one thing that is consistent in all of Tarah's historicals is that the heroines are completely endearing, sassy, straight-forward, and absolutely enchanting. She takes the best loved traits out of this generation of strong women, blends them with believable historical accuracy, and this results in the perfect recipe for a show-stopping new generation historical romance! Eve was my favorite character, but I must confess that her father was a close second..lol. It is quite obvious where Eve got her personality from. This book was a complete enchantment from start to finish. I loved the characters, the plot, the humor, and every little detail in between. The journey that ends in a fascinating dynamic between Eve and Erroll is one you do not not want to miss!!! I highly recommend this read to historical lovers everywhere!

This book has an amazing immediate hook. I am not big on romance books. At all. Though this one sure got it's hooks into me from the first three sentences and kept me hooked with temptation, intrigue, mis-communication and lots and lots of passio... I mean tension. This book is 100% romance with historical High Sea escapades to add spice and a bit more sugar. A very well written period romance that had me sigh plenty of times. Such a Highland Earl is welcome anytime!WaAr rrg

Tarah Scott has once again written a beautiful Highland love story with all the wonderful writing and dramatic flair that readers have and will fall in love with. With every single book she writes, this one included, I find myself magnetically drawn to the story and the characters. Everything about this story will captivate you, and leave you breathless. The story has something for everyone! Romance, scandal, action, a sexy earl, and a feisty young woman who refuses to marry for any reason but love. It was amazing to watch love conquer lust and a womanizing Earl fall head over heels for a woman. To Tame a Highland Earl is the alluring story of Errol, Eve, and Grace. There is a great and amusing cast of characters throughout the novel. The plot is like an epic ping pong match between the two sisters and the Earl. As always, the pacing flows perfectly from start to finish. When Errol finally realizes he has lost his heart to Eve the reader cannot help but fall in love with them. I loved how the story is split between England and Scotland. It is refreshing for a Highland novel! The ending was a beautiful conclusion to a wonderful tale. I am definitely excited to read more from Tarah and this series! For lovers of Karen Marie Moning and Monica McCarty's Highlanders, I encourage you to pick up one of Tarah Scott's novels! They are just as magical and amazing reads!

I loved this book from the front cover to the very last word. The characters were so well developed, the story completely took me there as the heroine! This was one of those books that you cannot put down until you read the whole book, never mind staying up all night to finish it!I loved that Eve was a strong willed, independent woman, although that got her into trouble at times. And Erroll, the woman charming snake was, made a great match for her. Eve put up a good fight against his charming ways but he put is manly moves on her making it difficult for her to resist him. The story was so hot, you could have roasted marshmallows when I was reading it! The story was so well developed that even the secondary characters helped to make the story even more engrossing. A great read, you must put it on your TBR list, even if you typically do not like medieval romances! I would read this book again and will recommend it to all of my family and friends!

"To Tame a Highland Earl (A MacLean Highlander Novel #1)" by Tarah Scott was picked in one of my reading groups and is not quite my usual type of book. However, I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised and smitten with the story.A woman tries to trick Erroll, Count of Roushton, into marriage. With revenge in mind he enters her chambers only to find he got the wrong woman. There is playful chemistry, great dialogue and a very well done and long winded "taming", much better and more enjoyable than I had anticipated. The story is light-hearted but not simplistic at all, a comedy of errors almost, very easy and smooth. There are also solid side characters thrown in and a great historical feel.

I loved this book!! Rush and Eve are so great together. They start off not liking each other. Then they are fighting their attraction. She tries to marry him off to her sister but he wants Eve. Through lots of scandal including kidnapping, a duel, and being sailed to Scotland they eventually find themselves married. But can she trust him. He was a rake of the worst kind and she doesn't think he will change. Rush never expected to fall in love with her and is scared she will leave. Can he prove to her that she is enough to tame this highland earl?

Reading this book was tantamount to suffering through a bumpy ride with an amateur driver. The plot was all over the place. I ended up skipping chapters sometimes because of the irrelevance of the dialogue to the story line. I feel thoroughly disgruntled when writers introduces one conflict after another throughout the book and then tries to tie up the story and resolve everything in the last 5 pages. It was ridiculous.

My first impression of Lord Erroll Rushton certainly did not put him in a favorable light, folks. He is an unrepentant womanizer who doesn’t believe in marriage and eventually gets himself into trouble by prejudicial circumstances. You set yourself up to be associated a certain way, buddy, don’t be surprised when you are accused of earning that reputation and its consequences. Ironically, he has to set out to defend his own honor against a woman he has never met who has accused him of dishonoring her, even though he’s been a womanizing scoundrel for years. Sound complicated? Well, it becomes even moreso as more sub-characters, twists and turns, and a “stands up for herself” heroine is added to the mix. Let’s just say, Erroll erred greatly when he picked the wrong eve to enter Eve, the heroine’s, hotel bedroom. This English lass sleeps with a pistol under her pillow, folks, and she knows how to use it.Though I was intrigued enough to keep reading, it definitely started to feel rather drawn out. Confirmation of this is the fact the main couple are not really a couple until about 70% into it and aren’t fully intimate until around 80%. Up to that point, there is a lot of back and forth regarding who will be forced to marry whom and under what circumstances. You see, there is another woman involved in this storyline, and her name is Grace. I certainly had no love for her, as she was the heroine’s annoying, younger, calculating, self-absorbed sister. In fact, I would have loved to have seen her reduced to rags and working as a scullery maid in some lowly tavern. I can’t help but feel she doesn’t deserve the life she thinks she can manipulate others into handing over to her. Don’t even get me started on how she was supposedly more beautiful than Grace and didn’t hesitate to rub that narcissistic opinion in Eve’s face. At least Erroll would not tolerate liars and regularly reminded Grace she was precisely that so he would never want her for a bride.Eve, the heroine, along with Oscar, her loyal, self-appointed bodyguard and Mr. Somerset, a man who has repeatedly asked for Eve’s hand in marriage, did earn my respect. Though Eve wasn’t a stranger to a few knucklehead moments of her own. At least I felt she had enough gumption and self-respect not to let a man push her around. Not after her last boyfriend gone bad drama, that is. Yeah, this girl has learned a life lesson, and she doesn’t plan to forget it. To put it simply, this is one complicated mess, my fellow romance book loving friends. It was intriguing enough to keep reading, but I definitely needed things to finally wrap up. I found it difficult at times to root for the hero to get a HEA. I applaud Eve for trying to be steadfast in not putting up with being pushed into marrying without love. It was refreshing how she stood up to Erroll and put him in his place time and time again. It took time for Erroll to earn his way into my literary good graces, which I’m not completely sure he totally did. You see, even at 80% he is admitting to himself he hadn’t really planned to give up OW even after he is married. At least it ended on a positive note with him acknowledging he did in fact want Eve as a his wife and couldn’t imagine life without her. Here’s to hoping he’ll stick to those guns in sequels, because Eve may just have to once again bring out hers to defend her honor.Romance Safety Gang: (view spoiler)[ I think you will have issues with this hero. It really isn’t until the very end he seems committed to staying with Eve. He continues to stay in touch with OW he has slept with, too. He seems to be constantly running into them when the heroine is around.(hide spoiler)]Rating:Writing: 4 starsHero: 2.5 starsHeroine: 4 starsTitle: To Tame a Highland Earl, Series: MacLean Highlander (Book 1), Author: Tarah Scott, Pages: 306, stand-alone but part of a series, loyal heroine who wants to marry for love, former manho hero who doesn’t want to marry, caught up in manipulative trap, attempted rape scene, some violence, kidnapping, doesn’t admit feelings until the very end. If you like action with your historical romance then To Tame a Highland Earl is for you! Right from the first page when Erroll breaks into the wrong woman’s bedroom, conflict and action ensues. Both the leading characters Eve and Erroll have fantastic and witty personalities, and it makes this book quite fun to read. Poor Eve is caught in a compromising position with Erroll because of her sister trying to trap him in a marriage.Eve’s sister Grace wasn’t my favorite character; she was a bit immature and annoying to me, but I think that was intentional. I just didn’t know how Eve could put up with her. However, she did grow on me a bit towards the end.All in all this was another great Tarah Scott read! (And isn’t the cover fantastic? I love her dress!)***I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.***

I adored the premise of the story, and the chemistry is hot hot hot, but the book had far too many sub-plots and twists and turns that made it difficult to follow. It's a comedy of errors that just had too much going on. I adore Eve and Errol (although Eve's sister Grace and Eve's suitor is irritating as all). There are no slow parts, and the romance development from curiosity to lust to love is very well-done, but I could NOT keep Errol's family straight. Granted, Scottish families are big, but it just proved to be a bit much for me. Overall, I will be checking out more of her books.

Nothing much happens in the book. There is not even enough drama. Bore..!!

Super cute ending! It was interesting to see them falling for each other without them even realizing it. Definitely worth the read.
