2.5 stars!I can't resist a good sports themed stories. Unfortunately, this one was very generic. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The one positive about it is the fact that it's short so it felt like I didn't waste that much time on it.ARC was provided by NetGalley.

Jase has a heart of gold and Avery puts the shine on it. But want I really like most about this romance is that Avery makes Jase work for it. She doesn't fall at his feet like all the football groupies do.THE BILLION DOLLAR PLAYER is a quick, romantic read that will leave readers satisfied. Bring on ROCKED BY THE BILLIONAIRE.

THE BILLION DOLLAR PLAYER features the hot shot hottie Jase Blackwell as he makes his way through to the Playoffs. As a Dallas Cowboy, Jase is known for her killer charms and prowess in and off the field. In an attempt to prepare for the big game, Jase goes on the hunt for a woman who will help him relax and unwind. But instead of finding a faceless woman for the night, he runs into Avery Lockhart, one of the waitresses working at an event he is at.Avery knows that Jase is trouble with a capital T so she remains resistant to Jase’s actions until she decides that she wants him. After all, she can walk away after. But when emotions get involved, that’s when conflict arises. What will be more important to Jase? The game or the woman?I enjoy Mandy Baxter’s writing as a whole but I found it hard to really get into Jase’s character this time around. I don’t know what it was. I think I was very protective of Avery and felt that her getting involved with him would only result in disaster. As expected, a slew of setbacks occur that break both of their hearts, resulting in a mess that is easily fixed by the end. However, I wanted something more from Jase. His mess up was too easily forgiven. I almost wanted that “grand gesture” from him to really show he was sorry. All in all, THE BILLION DOLLAR PLAYER is a quick, sexy read that definitely hits the spot for any sports romance lover.❤ ♡ Don't want to miss any of our posts? Thoughts: This is nice, quick, sexy, sports themed romance from a series that is easily read as a stand alone and is always sure to be a enjoyable escape! I recently read a couple of the other releases from this series (Rocked by Billionaire and The Billionaire Cowboy) and was so impressed I was quick to grab this one as well, and I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. In this one, Jase gets some advice to go and maybe have a little pre-game fun (which he only considers for a second) before his gaze lands on the beautiful waitress, Avery - who seems a little reluctant, which is a change for him when it comes to women! That only makes Jase more determined...but will she turn out to be more than just a simple good luck charm, after all? This is one of those little misunderstandings books, where the guy actually is glad that someone is looking at him as more than just a simple one night stand, and the girl is has accepted that that is all it can ever be. Getting them to actually get on the same page is the whole crux the book - enjoyable and funny when it comes to some of the misunderstandings, but short. This one was a cute read, not quite as good as the other two I read - a little predictable but still enjoyable.Rate: BReview by: Sarahhttp://www.thebookreadinggals.com

If you are looking for a sweet and quick romantic read, this one is for you. Jase is a billionaire, but the billion was not from playing football. His money has always been a crutch since people assumed that he used his money to get a spot on the team. Jase has not been playing as well as he normally had. There is a superstition with the football players that having sex can bring good luck to your game. Jase sees waitress, Avery, and think she may be his “ticket” to get out of the bad slump. With playoffs just around the corner, he will try anything to get his game back. However, Avery is not like the other girls that usually throw themselves at hot football players. She knows that the players have reputations for having sex and leaving the next day. She does not want that. However, one night and playing a great game, Jase is not so quick to leave Avery alone.I love that Avery was just a regular girl with no interest in Jase’s money or his fame. Jase was just a nice guy. The characters are very sweet and likable. It is a short romance with minimal angst.A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between-It’s a novella, so it’s a quick and easy read. The pacing was fine for a novella and I felt that I knew enough about Jase and Avery for this romance.-Hot love scenes. -Standalone HFN: I wasn’t aware that there was a series of these books (featuring Jase’s brothers) and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of this story. I could believe that they were happy for now, with the possibility of more.-Nice enough, but nothing that makes it stand out: Jase and Avery were nice but a bit generic. She’s a typical insecure heroine, which can be frustrating, and he’s completely taken with her from the moment he sees her, which can be a bit eye-roll inducing. They have great physical chemistry but there’s not alot of time to really develop an emotional relationship. The Bottom LineIt’s an uncomplicated, enjoyable short story that I’d recommend for those in need of a quick sports romance fix. **ARC provided by publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review**

Loved this one! It's a quick sexy read that I couldn't put down. Jase and Avery are perfect together. Their attraction is immediate and the chemistry is electric but they both have baggage that makes them each question the others motivation. The author did a great job of packing a lot into a relatively short story. I will definitely be watching out for more from her. I highly recommend this one.

Received an ARC to reviewWhy did I wait so long to read this? I loved it. This one was way better than the first book. I'll take a Jase any day of the week. It a bonus that he's an amazing football player. I really like his friend Chase too, but it's a shame he's already married. Off to read the next brother, Luke. I sure hope there's an amazing epilogue.

Being on the football field is where Jase Blackwell does his best work, but here recently he has found himself in a little slump and not able to play to his full potential. He knows he needs to get his head right, and get his game back on track or he will sent to the bench and lose his starting spot on the team. With a chance at playing in the Super Bowl lingering his teammates don't want to lose their star tight end, so they suggest he find a little good luck charm, they figure one night with a lady and he'll back in rare form and ready to help take them to the big game. But Jase is tired of the usual money and fame hungry woman who line up for a night with the elusive "Billion Dollar Blackwell," he wants someone with substance, someone who challenges him. With his job on the line he decides to embrace their idea and starts scanning the crowd at their team party for his little good luck charm, but his mission is interrupted by a loud commotion created by a clumsy waitress. After hearing her being badgered by rude guests he decides to come to her rescue, and as soon as he lays eyes on her he knows she is the one...the perfect muse for his little mission. But as soon as he tries to set his plan in motion she turns him down flat...Avery Lockhart's careful little life is knocked off it's axis the night she meets Jase Blackwell, never in her wildest dreams would she think he would be interested in her, let alone come to her rescue, but for some reason he is, and it's quite unsettling. She is flattered that he'd even talk to her, but she is certain it is just a sneaky ploy to land her in his bed, and she isn't so sure she wants to be just another faceless woman spending the night with the famous "Billion Dollar Blackwell", so she turns him down. But Jase just isn't taking no for an answer, and after unforeseen circumstances leave her stranded in front of his home, she has no other choice then to let him come to her rescue. Being in a car with him is almost more than she can handle, the close proximity to him is short circuiting her brain, and rattling her good sense, and as much as she tries to fight her attraction to him she still feels him sneaking past all her defenses...Some of my favorite reads entail sexy smooth talking athletes, and I have to say that after a few sentences into this story I instantly knew Jase had found himself a place amongst my elite list of favorites!! His sexy one liners, caring demeanor, and charming personality totally won me over and had me swooning from start to finish!! If you haven't had a chance to meet Ms. Baxter's Billionaire alphas I must first tell you that you are totally missing out on some truly exceptional reading and also the opportunity to meet some extremely charming men that are destined to steal your heart!

Honestly, you don’t need a lengthy review to figure out what you are getting with this one, my fellow romance book-loving friends. The cover and book synopsis pretty much says it all. Expect a quick read with very explicit steamy scenes and reformed bad boy behavior. This hero is a famous football player used to scoring on and off the field, if you catch my drift. This author tends to use heroes who are tom cat players/skirt chasers until they focus all their lust/attention on the heroine. This was no exception. No, they don't show any remorse about it either. Like it is owed to them.Obviously, the heroine knew of his reputation and tries not to give in to his advances, which naturally makes him want her even more. Clothes are a funny thing though. It appears hers fall off every time she is alone with him. He, of course, quickly falls for her and regrets ever even remotely thinking of using her as a good luck ___ (rhymes with the last word) distraction before each game. You see, apparently that was a common practice among his teammates, so she was lumped into that category by them. This girl at least has enough pride not to want to be humilated when he eventually moved on, which she was convinced he would. After all, why would he want to stay with a clutzy caterer waitress/chef wanna be, when he was used to supermodels? Yeah, typical scenario there, folks. Heroine fells unworthy of hero's time/attention.With its pretty predictable plot, they do, of course, get their HEA.Ms. Baxter does usually interject some relationship worthy moments so sexcapades don't always completely hijack her storylines...but come close. This one had quite a bit of graphic sex. There is a collection series available in one book, and you can save some dinero if you buy it instead of each one individually. Unless, of course, you take into account you might want to skip Rocked by the Billionaire. It was my least favorite and featured a hero and heroine I didn't not particularly care for. At the time of this review, The Billionaire Sheriff has not been published separately. Eventually, it will be made available outside the Tall, Dark, Billionaire Texan series.Title: The Billion Dollar Player, Series: The Billionaire’s Club, Author: Mandy Baxter, Pages: 88, stand-alone, HEA, VERY EXPLICIT steamy novella, Mature readers: 18+ years old.Collection series: Tall, Dark, Billionaire TexanNovella 1 – The Billion Dollar Cowboy, Pages: 91Novella 2 – The Billion Dollar Player, Pages: 88Novella 3 – Rocked by the Billionaire, Pages: 112Novella 4 – The Billionaire Sheriff, Pages: 123(This review is based on ARC generously provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion. Having enjoyed The Billionaire Cowboy, I couldn’t wait to read this installment in the Billionaire’s Club. I have to say that I actually enjoyed The Billion Dollar Player even more than the first book. We met Jase briefly in book one, where we got a sneak peek into his humor and the struggle he experienced proving that he earned his position with the Dallas Cowboys and that his brother didn’t buy his way onto the team. With the opening of this book we find that Jase has been having a rough time on the field lately. His teammate and close friend recommends a one-night stand as a stress reliever, but Jase isn’t interested in the football groupies and the typical “talent” that hangs around the team. Fortunately for him, Avery makes a rather smashing entrance into his life and he finds himself quite taken with the petite waitress. But Avery is not a one-night stand kind of girl and refuses Jase’s offer of dinner – three times. After four catered events and a mechanical failure, Jase finally gets the chance to spend a little bit of one-on-one time with Avery as he drives her home. After turning Jase’s advances down four times, Avery decides to throw caution to the wind and proceeds to demonstrate just how flexible a girl can be in the front seat of pickup – YEEHAW! Needless to say, Avery is a bit shocked when she opens the door to a sweaty Jase the next night but finds she can’t resist him and the two embark upon an unacknowledged friends with benefits type relationship. I must admit that I am impressed that Ms. Baxter created a character in Avery that was insecure without being neurotically so, particularly when it came to her worrying that a waitress wasn’t good enough to date a billionaire. Yes Avery did express that concern, but it didn’t consume her and threaten the developing relationship. I’ve read books where such a concern became the antagonist of the novel and the character obsessed over it to the point that it threatened or ruined the relationship. In this instance, Jase addressed Avery’s concerns and she not only listened to what he had to say, but paid attention to how his actions supported his statements. I enjoyed that their relationship developed as they spent time together talking and wasn’t just based on sex – HOT sex mind you, really hot sex. And when an outside element causes Avery to cut Jase out of her life, he shows just why he gets what he wants – he fights for her. Ms. Baxter has packed a lot of story into The Billion Dollar Player and I loved every minute of it. I look forward to reading Rocked by the Billionaire and finally meeting Jase’s elusive twin, Lucas. Absolutely enjoyed this story of Jason (Jase) Blackwell, the “Billion Dollar Blackwell,” as he has been called in the press. The reason being his family has money now not always been that was way by a long shot. In fact, it wasn’t until his no good father left and his brother Ryder took over the ranch and made it into a huge success. He and his twin were already in high school by then. So, since his brother has the most expensive box seats for the Cowboy’s games, the media want to know if he bought his way on to the team. The team is smelling the playoffs in their hands but Jase has been off a little so Carson Rider the starting Q.B. is starting to ride him about his stiffness and maybe it being old age. But Jase know Carson is kidding, Carson does say he should get laid. He says no way he does believe in that sports fairytales. They are talking this over at the team party, when they hear the crashing of broken glass. He turns and looks to see the tiniest petit emerald green eye beauty he had ever seen. And a woman bitching at her for messing up her dress with Champaign. Carson says, Jase should go help her. He says, no at first then does it anyway. When he tries to help she says no! Then he takes it upon himself to pick up some towels since none of her fellow workers were going to help. He asks her name she says Avery Lockhart. She tries to show she is confident and has it handled but she was shaking like a leaf. Especially, when she was thinking about the tall hunk of a man that was trying to get into her pants. Why would he want anything else with to do with her? Avery was a very simple girl, putting herself through school (Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy.) She wanted more but her clumsiness was a communicable disease. These two had goals but their paths had crossed and now their worlds were about to be shaken up. I give this 5 stars.Provided by Net Galley. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

What started as just a fling ended up being so much more but it can all down the drain in a matter of minutes. This is the second installment of Billionaire’s Club and I loved it. My heart swelled when Jase and Avery hit it off and they couldn’t stop seeing each other. It looked like they were both feeling better about themselves and they were excelling in their lives. All I know is that this story was brilliantly written and I fell in love with the characters. Sure it is a very short read but it had everything that I love in a romance story.Jason “Jase” Blackwell couldn’t stop staring at Avery Lockhart from the moment that he went to help her clean up a accident that happened at one of their team parties. There was something about her that just called to him and he needed to see her but Avery is not like other women that fall at a football players feet. When Jase talked to Avery about his family and how everyone critiqued him because he had money it was just wrong. But I have to say that he was a strong man that just wanted to belong. I know that he ended up wanting her all of the time and she was thinking about him but they didn’t go out. There was just one time when he should have been with her and not left her when everything goes down the drain. The Billion Dollar Player was a great short read. It was fast paced and the romance between them was igniting. Avery was a smart regular girl that saw him for only him and didn’t want his money. Jase was a great guy that needed to see be himself and not care what other people thought about him because of where he came from. I recommend this read!!Received ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an Honest Review

My English reviewMon avis en FrançaisWhat a pleasure to read the second novel of this short stories series. After discovering Riker in the first volume, we turn here to his brother, Jase. This boy looks like his brother in many ways, marked by life, trying to prove he has talent and does not have money at heart despite his lifestyle. He is a very talented football player who only goes up.So we discover this man at a party in his honor and it is during this same evening as his eyes land on Avery, a rather clumsy waitress. But while she intrigues him, our hero will try to see if he can ask her out for a date and to his surprise, a man who is used to having everything he wants (as his brother elsewhere), the young woman refuses. A new challenge is launched. But as their relationship progresses, how to know how it will end for these two different souls?I really enjoyed once again this novel. This new couple featured here is very touching and we understand why they have both doubts. Avery is a sweet young woman who does not really trust him and it’s true that it hurts my heart to see the states in which she is found, but it’s nice and touching to see them both happy. Both tries to become what they want and their history is just beginning.I can only advise you to read these stories if you’re a fan of contemporary romances, a great time.

The Billion Dollar Player is a short and fast read, perfect for those looking for a sports romance but who don’t have a lot of time. This is definitely one of those stories where you want to smack the characters up the side of the head a couple of times and tell them that they need to talk to one another. Jase worries a couple of times that Avery isn’t as good as she seems – that she’s into him for his money or fame instead of him as a person. And Avery is afraid that Jase is ashamed of being seen with a poor, clumsy waitress instead of the Barbie lookalikes that he usually associates with. While Jase starts to value Avery for who she really is, she still has her doubts on why he would want to be with someone like her. I can see where some would find it annoying but I thought it worked well. You can see the drama coming a mile away but I think that Baxter does a good job in setting it up and giving her readers the HEA that Jase & Avery deserve. With her entertaining and fluid writing style, I’ll be keeping my eye out for more from Mandy Baxter. And I’m definitely reading the rest of the Billionaire’s Club books – stories about Jase’s two brothers – fame and fortune, mixed with their troubled backgrounds, could lend to enjoyable difficulties on their path to happiness. Jason Blackwell, or Jase as was known among friends, was very good football player. But many people, sport journalists, thought he had just achieved his place in the team because coming from a wealthy family. He wasn't on a good mood time. As his friend advised him, he needed to find a girl to have a good night of sex and put himself out of stress. That same night he sees the waitress Avery and is fascinated by her.Avery Lockhart worked hard to pay her bills, house and cooking class at Le Cordon Bleu. Cooking was her passion. When she met Jase while she worked at the party, she felt completely drawn. But who wouldn't? He was tall and beautiful and sexy. He asked her to hang out and she declined the invitation.3 more invitations until a broken car helps him on his achievement.Their connection, trapped inside a car, was immediate, and against all odds, Jase didn't want Avery for just one night. And coincidentally he started to play better, score points for the team and led the team to the Super Bowl. But a terrible misunderstanding, as gossip, hinders the couple and can put everything to lose ...It's a short, sexy and romantic story.5 stars

I can say our boy Jase is pretty consistent when it comes to Avery, "since last week?" Avery said. "Three." At every dinner party he'd thrown, he'd asked her out at the end of the night. And Avery had turned him down each and every time." Jase he sometimes has trouble holding in his emotions, "because I'm going to effing explode if I don't kiss you right now." He also needs to always hear that Avery wants him, "he needed to eff her like he needed his next breath. "I want you. Tell me you want me, too. Tell me to eff you, Avery." I mean it's pretty sad when Jase has a walking hard on 24/7 for his girl, "having a little trouble with your pants?" she asked in a playful tone that did nothing to calm his raging hard-on." To me this book was like a new age Romeo and Juliet minus the dying part.

4 starsThe Billion Dollar Player was a quick fun and enjoyable read.Jase and Avery are perfect for each other. They both have baggage and a relationship wasn't something either was looking for but once they started opening up to each other it was hard for either one to let the other go. I couldn't put this novella down, I really enjoyed it, my only complaint would be the end felt a little rushed.Looking forward to Luke's story next Rocked by the Billionaire Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This is the second book in the series, and like the first book it's a lust at first sight turned to love.Jason "Jase" Blackwell the protagonist in this book is Ryder Blackwell's brother from book 1. Jase is a football player, that despite his talent he feels very insecure because everyone only see's him as a privileged rich boy.Avery Lockhart is waitress going to cooking school and living paycheck to paycheck. She was no intention of getting involved with a football player.Eventually these two form a weird friendship / romance that comes under threat but they are able to save it. The story is short and entertaining, it's a light weekend read that will keep you turning the pages.Rating 4 out of [email protected]

**more at melenasreviews.wordpress.com**Once again Mandy Baxter is blowing my mind with these brothers. I love that Jase is the youngest yet works hard to be the man he is destined to be. On the outside he may seem like a regular football jock but there is so much about him. Avery now is totally the opposite of what he is surrounded with in his life and seem so opposite. They have nothing in common yet when they come together their love towards one another is awesome. This is book 2 and already the Blackwells are becoming so much fun to read. Each brother has their own storyline and Jase was just great to read about for he is much more than a player he is truly a country boy at heart. Loved it.

This is a nice short story that will be read in a matter of a couple hours. Its short and sweet and will take you out of your daily reality for a few hours.I would have rated this grouping a 4 or even a 5 star if it had not been for the, in my mind, overwhelming use of the "F Bomb". I have taught my children that to talk and write without the use of profanity shows the world that you are smarter than the majority. Many authors have the ability to write steamy scenes without the use of this particular word.

Another okay book. Ryder was good and so was Jase. I just think for their length they could have used a bit more building to make them insanely good. Jase has never let Money change him. However everyone likes to believe he is where he is today because of it. He's still a great guy. Avery is clumsy and working her butt of to get through culinary school. At a dinner event at a player's house. Jase meets Avery and can't get her otu of his head. He needs her and with playoffs happening he needs his head in teh game. Like i said sort of predictable but still fun to read.

This was a good read and I enjoyed reading it but for me there was nothing about it that made it stand out from other sports romances. There is the rich athlete, the regular girl, locker room talk that goes too far, the break up and the groveling it’s all there. I will say that Jase and Avery did have great chemistry and I enjoyed reading their story, it was an afternoon well spent. If you’re looking for a quick, light sports romance give this one a try. I received an ARC from the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick romantic read. There was just enough info about Jase and Avery that it made it a believable story. ANd that's no easy feat with a story THIS short. Usually, character development falls short. So kudos to Mandy Baxter. The sex scenes were actually kinda hot, as well. Well written and kept you turning the pages. Overall, quick but satisfying read!ARC provided by St Martin Press via NetGalley for an honest review.

Copy for honest reviewThis was a quick easy read. Jase and Avery meet when avery helps cater a party for Jase's team. Jase is a famous football player and Avery is a waitress. She was not interested in his money or fame. He was down to earth and very charming. Even though the story was short, the character were developed and easy to like. There were a few sexy love scenes. The writing was good and I enjoyed the story.
