Their careers have survived, even flourished, but the stress is getting to both of them and it’s time to unwind. On their way to meet their wives, Dix and Petersen get caught up in a fire-fight in broad daylight in old town Las Vegas. One of them is seriously injured and it forces the other to do things he normally wouldn’t do, testing his character, and pulling him in a direction that even scares him. After a day or two of investigating the shooting, Dix learns an assassin, hired by an unknown criminal who’s clearly a psychopath, is hunting he and Petersen, as well as others, and she’s relentless. The local law enforcement community refers to her as “The Praying Mantis,” because she kills targets after she sleeps with them. This third novel in the Bill Dix Vacation series pushes the boundaries of friendship, what it means to wear a badge, and is rough and gritty- everything you’ve come to expect in a Bill Dix novel. And you know he wouldn’t have it any other way. Who survives this one? And more importantly, can the man playing the Praying Mantis like a fiddle survive long enough to get what he really wants…Bill Dix’s head on a platter....

Sin City Assassin Reviews
What happens in VegasDetectives Bill Dix and Steve Peterson are attempting another vacation (when will they learn?) this time in Las Vegas when they are grabbed as hostages following a robbery and murder. This time they are pitted against a ruthless and brutal female assassin known as the Praying Mantis. She and her brothers work for Robert Blass aka Robert Laurin, a second-generation killer. The action is fast and furious as law enforcement agencies try to defeat this dangerous enemy. There are lots of errors for which I have deducted one star.Wait for the surprising twist at the end.
Sin City Awesome! This is book 3 in the Bill Dix Series and by far the best yet! Dix and Peterson should not be allowed to go on vacation, too many things go wrong! So many twists and turns with this book and it kept me on the edge of my seat, and the end was not expected at all! It was shocking and I sat here taking deep breaths of amazement and disbelief. You have to read this book, it was definitely a 5 star read!! Good job Mr. Swinney!! Waiting for the next in the series!
This third installment of the Bill Dix series is intense. The author's description creates vivid visuals and his language moves the story line along. You will want to read more.
