I read this book in less than 24 hours. I couldn't put it down! Thank you, thank you Amy Lillard and Net Galley for allowing me to read this advanced e-reader. I LOVED IT SO MUCH the Wells Landing series just keeps getting better and better. It wonderfully well written (as are all of Amy's books!) and again, I love that its a fresh and new idea to Amish Christian fiction. I loved Lorie' and her family and my heart ached for her at the loss of her father and the confusion and turmoil that came with it. I won't go into too much more because I am afraid my excitement will give way to spoilers. So to summarize, this book is unique and amazing and I am so happy I was privileged enough to read it!

Oh my! where do I even start my review at for "Lorie's Heart"?Lorie Kauffman is faced with a lot more questions at the time of her father's death. Her being Amish kind of puts her in a tough spot of wanting to know the answers to her questions. She knows what her Amish belief and rules tell her to do, but can anyone really turn their mind off to constant questions rattling around in one's mind? The true answer is "NO". Follow along as Lorie is faced with what to do with her constant questions. Are someone else's secrets best left alone, especially since they are no long living? Is it easy to keep your own secrets? Is there a balance between Amish and English worlds? In the end, does Lorie do the right thing for herself and her family? When I got to the end of "Lorie's Heart", I was shocked that Amy Lillard ended the book where she did. I was still looking for more story to read, but I did find a very nice surprise though, a fourth book will be added to the series and I can not wait for April to get here, even though I don't seen my son with be turning 19 and then a few months after that a graduate from high school. I do look forward to reading more books by Amy Lillard in the future. If you have not read the series A Wells Landing Romance don't worry for you will not get lost. Amy Lillard does a good job of keep us, readers, informed during the book as well as details that we need to follow the story.I received a free copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. No money was exchanged. This is my honest review in my own words.

When Lorie’s father dies suddenly her world is turned upside down, he had been living a double life. Did the Dad she knew even exist? How could her father have done this, and why? Was her father even Amish, the only faith she has ever known? She then discovers a family she never even knew existed, and once she opens the box her life is changed forever. Where will she go from here? She loves her family, but she also wants to be part of her father’s past life.I wondered how her father was able to pass as an Amish man? You would think the secret would have been out a long time ago, how could his new wife not know? There are answers here, and you will not know how this book finishes until the very end, found myself rooting for one way and then changed my mind.A really thoughtful read, and one that makes you think, and I loved the characters, from her Amish family to her English relatives, especially Betty and the seniors. It was a very fast read, and left me wanting more!I received this book through Net Galley and Kensington Books, and was not required to give a positive review.

Lorie’s Heart is one of the best Amish books I have ever read. I was hooked from the beginning! Lorie Kauffman learns a secret about her father upon his death- he had a tattoo. This is very unusual for an Amish man. When did her father get the tattoo and why? As Lorie uncovers more and more about her father’s life she begins to question her own. Amy Lillard always creates unique storylines- so refreshing in Amish fiction! Her characters are very well-developed and you won’t find authentic Amish details anywhere else. Lorie’s Heart is the 3rd book in the Wells Landing series. It can be read alone but I highly recommend reading the first two books also. I give Lorie’s Heart 5+ stars!

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKWhen Lorie Kauffman’s father passed away, she was having enough trouble dealing with his death, much less finding out about all of his secrets. Lorie find’s a tattoo her dad has when she goes to identify his body, which her step mother will tell her nothing about. Then she finds a drivers license and an address, with a name Lorie doesn’t recognize, in the box of things the funeral home of her dads. Lorie has Luke take her to the address she found to see what she could find out, and they ended up at a retirement home. Would Lorie find answers to all of her questions here?Book three in this series is just as exciting as Book’s one and two! With Lorie finding out about the secrets her father has been keeping from her, the tensions are a bit more intense, and there are many twists and turns. And of course this was great because I couldn’t put the book down, I had to find out what was happening next. I did feel so bad for Lorie, because everything hit her at once, and it was difficult to handle, and then try to figure out what she could about her dad and his situation. Another awesome read from Amy Lillard. One you don’t want to miss, especially if you enjoy Amish fiction.I received this book from the author to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55.

Amy Lillard has penned a wonderful book about secrets, family, love and finding your place in the world. With genuine characters and a well-developed plot, this book was easy to read.I was immediately drawn into Lorie's story. Her character was authentic and genuine. It was easy to relate to her and feel her emotions as she struggled with the choices she needed to make. The other characters in the book were just as authentic and easy to relate to. I felt like I knew these people and had an interest in what happened to them. This story has a fantastic plot and had a really good flow to it. It was so easy to get involved in the story and stay involved in it. The descriptions of the various settings in the book were well written and easy to imagine while reading. I'm sure fans of Amish fiction will truly enjoy this story. A two thumbs up read.

Wow! What a fabulous book! After Lorie Kauffman's father passed away, she found secrets that could change her life. Who is she and where does she belong - the Amish or the Englisch world? So many questions unanswered. The author wrote with extraordinary emotions that touched my heart and made me feel torn in Lorie's dilemma. I was completely fascinated by this book and could never figure out what Lorie's final decision would be. There were so many other people who would be affected in her decision and the author wrote each character with great details and each had their own unique personality. When you find the secret, sometimes it has good consequences and sometimes bad. It's a risk Lorie had to decide and whether it would be worth it. Author Amy Lillard wrote a fabulous book in Lorie's Heart and I highly recommend reading it. Lorie's Heart will be an Amish book I will cherish and read again. Lorie's Heart is Book Three in A Wells Landing Romance Series by Author Amy Lillard.I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

I have read all of author Amy Lillard’s Amish fiction. I’ve loved each and every story. Once again I was not disappointed. I enjoyed this story very much. When secrets are kept, hearts are broken. Imagine waking up one morning and finding out that your Father isn’t who he said he was. Imagine that you had relatives that you didn’t know you had. In this story searching for answers took time and caused further confusion. I loved that this story went back and forth between two worlds, Amish and English. There weren’t any surprises in this book for me, however, I enjoyed it immensely. If you want a good Amish fiction read, this book is for you.

As I turned the last page of this wonderful book, I knew I was going to miss these characters - new found friends. I rode the emotional "roller coaster" along with Lorie as she began unraveling her father's past. Lorie not only has to grieve in the Amish way, but she also feels compelled to learn of her father’s life away from the community. Will her desire to know the truth about her father draw her closer to the Amish community or the Englischer world? Amy Lillard brought these characters to life in believable situations and real-life problems. I look forward to reading the other books in this series: Caroline's Secret and Courting Emily.

Another in the Amish life series about Wells Landing, Oklahoma. As the story starts Lorie Kauffman and her family are grieving the death of her father from an accident. Lorie and her step-mother go to the county coroner’s office to identify the body. That is difficult to do, but the more difficult thing is that Lorie notices that her father has a tattoo! That is not something an Amish man should have. When she tries to ask her step-mother about it she gets no answer and is told to let it go and not ask again. But the tattoo has an attraction that makes her think that it was gotten in memory of her mother, whom she doesn’t really remember because she was so young when her biological mother died. So, Lorie sets out on a quest. She takes a look at the items the police return to the family that belonged to her father. In his wallet is a drivers license, another no no in the Amish community. But low and behold the license has a different address and a different name than Kauffman. What does that mean, did he have another family somewhere else?As Lorie works to unravel the mystery she will discover that he father was an honorable man but one with many secrets. She will meet a grandmother she didn’t know she had. She will meet a nice English boy who will turn her head and make her question whether she should marry the Amish boy, Jonah, that she has been dating forever.Just when I thought I couldn’t find an Amish novel that would offer a new story line and some new twists this one came along. I was very pleased with the story and how it developed. I enjoyed the mystery as well as the struggles a young Amish woman will have. The story maybe wraps up a bit too nicely, but what did I expect?I enjoyed the story and think it would be a good discussion book for a church book club to read.Enjoy!

Regular readers know how much I love Amish fiction, and this is a particularly touching read. Lorie's new life circumstances provide her with a great deal of struggle, but her relationship with God sees her through. Her community aren't always understanding of her desire to find out what really happened, but she carries on anyway because she doesn't want to live with regret. There's plenty of Amish customs in the story to keep me happy – they still seem to eat a lot of cake and pie! I cheered when Lorie made progress in discovering who she is (which is heavily tied up with the truth about her father), and by doing that she is able to finally find love. I held my breath in several places, such is the level of emotions which Lorie goes through, and honestly had no idea how it would end. This is part of a series, and I'm going to be seeking out the other books which I thik get to know some of the other characters better. I will reread Lorie's tale for sure! Amy Lillard did it again with another wonderful work of Amish fiction. Even though this is part of a series, you can read it as a stand alone book. You meet the characters from her other books in this series though, so if you want more of a background on them, read those first and then read Lorie's Heart. Lorie's heart gets broken after the death of her father and then her heart gets hurt when she finds out about her father's other life. And then her heart finds love and forgiveness - lots of love from all those around her. Love from grandmothers she didn't know about, love from Zach, and love from her stepmother and Sadie. This story is definitely one that is hard to put down once you start, because you just want to know what is going to happen. Your heart will be full of love after you finish this story.

Do you like to travel to new places - May I suggest Wells Landing!!! Amy Lillard has created a place to escape and live the Amish life with Amish friends. I was sure after reading about Emily, and Caroline and then Lorie that the Wells Landing was real. I was planning to visit - until a friend pointed out that is was a made up town in a book :(. Amy has created a series of books that will capture your heart! Lorie is struggling with the reality that her Father had a hidden life and meeting family for the first time and finding true love that was there all along. If you like Amish fiction you will adore the setting and characters that Amy Lillard has blessed us with in this series. Don't Miss Lorie's Heart and now I am waiting for Just Plain Sadie. Thank you Amy!

After the death of her father, Lorie is thrown into a tumultuous journey of self-discovery and that makes for a truly gripping read. Lillard expertly weaves the two worlds -- Englisch and Amish -- into a riveting story that kept me on tenterhooks right to the very end.Lorie is at odds with her new reality when she discovers her father's past. The author reveals it in sparing details -- breadcrumbs for the reader to gather and absorb right along with her. I was left reeling at times. There's incredible growth in this heroine as she learns to find her own path -- meshing tradition with her new found knowledge. A complicated romance brings more angst to the story making the joy of sweet resolution all the more satisfying.

Lorie’s HeartBy Amy Lillard I so loved this story about Lorie, her siblings, Jonah and Zach, and others. Amy Lillard is definitely a gifted writer. I started in Thursday evening after finishing another book and Saturday morning I finished it. It was hard to put it down. I really Lorie enjoyed reading this book about Lorie’s heart. I thought I knew how it would end, but was totally surprised and very happy it did end as it did. Seemed so right and best in the long run. I highly recommend reading this book, I know you won’t be sorry, you will enjoy it.

A wonderful amish book about Lorie and her family. After her father dies suddenly, Lorie finds out several things that makes her curious about her background. She is soon torn between the English world and life as she knows it. With Zach she discovers both of her grandmothers, shares her artistic ability with a Senior center, and decides whether to stay in the Amish world or cross over to the English world. There is a happy ending.

About the Book:Welcome back to Wells Landing, Oklahoma, the tranquil Amish community where still waters run deep and a brave young woman sets out to discover her faith, her family, and herself…Lorie Kauffman is grief-stricken when her father passes away unexpectedly. But her heartache quickly turns to bewilderment when she discovers he’d been leading two lives—one of simplicity and hard work in Wells Landing, and one fraught with painful ordeals in Tulsa. As she starts digging into her family’s past, Lorie finds herself torn between the Amish world and the Englisch world—and she’s no longer certain where she belongs…Lorie knows that if she leaves Wells Landing, she may never be able to return. But what if her destiny lies in the outside world—the world her father knew so well? Change is never easy, but with a bit of courage and the help of a handsome and kind-hearted Englischer, she just may find the peace, acceptance, and love she’s been longing for…My Review: Death in a family is utterly devastating. I know because I have experienced it on more than one occasion but I think the worst deaths I could of ever experienced so far in my life is that of my parents. I was in my twenties when both of my parents passed on. The word "devastation" doesn't even seem to cover it at all.The main character of Lorie's Heart, Lorie Kauffman knows the experience all too well herself because in this book by Amy Lillard her father passes away. And as the author writes she describes it perfectly. Lorie is shell shocked and slowly slipping into the abyss of a dark and bottomless pit of despair, grief and utter sadness. I know because I have been there.Lorie may sense it she may not but it doesn't seem to me as a reader she cares too much. Others around her sense it, her sister, her mother and her supposed love interest Jonah. But being sad is not the only thing that is gripping Lorie. She needs to get down to the bottom of her fathers death but she gets in return is a whole lot more. Amy has written a very touching story located in good old Amish country in a place called Wells Landing. She has intricately woven a story for us to sit on the sidelines and watch unfold. It is a very intriguing one, full of surprises!**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author.

Lorie’s Heart is the third book in the Wells Landing series. It can stand alone if you have not read the other books in the series. I do think that the story is enhanced a bit if you have read books one and two, Caroline’s Secret and Courting Emily, because these two women are the closest of Lorie’s friends and do appear in this book.Lorie’s Heart started out a little slowly for me. I think this was simply because there was quite a mystery to build up. I kept wanting to know the secrets that would be revealed at a bit of a faster pace and wanted Lorie to dig right in and find out what was going on. So, I pretty much blame my impatience!I also had a bit of a hard time connecting with Lorie, Zach, and Jonah for the first half of the book. I still found the plot very interesting and wanted to find out the full story behind the secrets that Lorie’s dad had been hiding. But, once I hit the halfway mark of the book, I became much more invested in these characters and was able to decide which man I wanted Lorie to end up with. The story pretty much took off from there for me. I could hardly set it down at that point and really could not tell what Lorie was going to decide to do and what man she would choose. The author did a really good job of writing the confusion that Lorie felt. This girl waffled back and forth so much and was so unsure of the decisions she was making. Her need to justify the little lies she was telling was a very human trait, as well. I thought that Zach and Jonah were also very well-written and reflected very realistic ways of reacting to the things going on with Lorie and the feelings they were both experiencing.Although it was a bit of a slow start for me, the book really picked up my interest about halfway through and ended up being a very enjoyable addition to the series. I believe that Amish fiction fans will enjoy Lorie’s Heart and that this story would also be appropriate for young adult readers who enjoy Amish fiction, as well. (4.5 stars)I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. You can read this review on my blog at:https://brittreadsfiction.wordpress.c...

Can you imagine discovering that your beloved Amish father had led an entirely separate life and kept many secrets from you ? And it all began with the discovery of his tattoo in the morgue as she and her stepmother identified his body? TO BEGIN with, Amish do not get tattoos! So what on earth does it mean? Then the box filled with his belongings divulges even more secrets. Her stepmother does not want to discuss any of it but Lorie can not leave it alone. She must know the truth and so she sets out on a journey of the heart to find her father's secrets. Will her family be able to survive the truths that are uncovered? Her relationship with her Amish boyfriend is in jeopardy now as well. This story CONTINUES the lives of the Amish community of Wells Landing. What a treat to get to share in the lives of the beloved characters. I have read the other books in the series but I believe that readers could enjoy this book even without the previous background information. There are many surprises in this story. I rate this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to readers of Amish and Christian fiction.I received a KINDLE version of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I think it's a well known fact that I really enjoy Amish fiction. This book was Amish fiction and I loved it. Lorie's Heart totally captured my heart. I couldn't put it down and then I was sad that it came to the end. Yes, if you like Amish fiction, you will love this book.Lorie Kauffmann's father has a fatal accident which left Lorie obviously very shaken up. But what she learns about her father now completely shakes her up. And she feels that she needs to find the truth about her father and the seemingly double life that he had lead.Lorie begins to find out many unexpected things which greatly complicate her life and change many things about who she really is. The friendship of a young Englischer, Zach, helps to bring her life back into perspective, helps her cope with her life, and brings new meaning to her family situation. You will really love this book. It's different and captivating. I have read many of Amy Lillard's Amish books and have enjoyed each one.Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review which I have given. No monetary compensation was given.

Two worlds and one choice...When I first started reading Amish novels I read every single one I found but as the years have gone by I've found myself limiting it to favorite authors and occasionally trying a new one. Amy Lillard is one of those favorites and right up there at the top of the list. This is actually the fourth Amish novel I have read by her and each one just keeps getting better and better. Lorie's Heart went surprisingly fast, I just couldn't seem to put it down. Lots of secrets and difficult decisions not only make you care about the characters but also keep the reader glued to the page. In the Wells Landing series each girl has had similar choices to make, to stay within the Amish faith or step out into the English world, to choose the old love or take a chance on the new. I truly enjoyed Lorie's Heart, it's a great read, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. When you are wanting an Amish story you can't go wrong with an Amy Lillard book!(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are entirely my own.)

Lorie's Heart is a wonderful story written by Amy Lillard. Once again we get to revisit the loving community of Wells Landing. Lorie's father has recently past on and she discovers some secrets that she feels compelled to investigate. While checking on what she has discovered Lorie starts keeping secrets from her family and Jonah, the man she is set to marry. When her secrets start to unravel Lorie is given an ultimatum by her step mother. Will Lorie choose to continue to untwist her father's lies or will she choose to remain with her family. If Lorie chooses to continue to her investigation it would mean going into the outside world, is she prepared to live like that? Lorie's decision will surprise you but what an interesting story will unfold. I was not given a complimentary copy of this book. This was such a wonderful story I wanted to submit my honest review to help other readers to decide to read this book. I have also rated this book with 5 stars. I will be starting the next book in this series with great anticipation.

Love begins in the past…Lorie Kauffman receives a shock, when news that her Dat was in an accident and has died. When she and her stepmom are taken to identify his body, she receives yet another shock… her dat has a tattoo!Though she knows she should let it go, Lorie cannot let go of the sorrow of losing her father, nor the questions she has, such as why he had a tattoo, and owned a car.Even though everyone is pushing Lorie to be baptized and marry Jonah, she has a secret — one that wouldn’t be allowed after she joins the church.Amy Lillard writes each book in this series in such a way that you can read any of them and enjoy the story. But let me encourage you to read the series… it is so much better to read each story as it happens, building with each subsequent story.I loved this story! Lorie just wants to find out the truth about her father, and his family. What does eventually happen? I’ll let you find out for yourself.Don’t miss this exciting series, found in the wonderful (fictional) community of Wells Landing.Happy Reading!!!

Enjoyed every page of this book from beginning to end. I was drawn into the saga of Lori, an amish girl who lost her father and soon learned that he had kept secrets from his family. As Lori uncovered secret upon secret, she was torn between honoring her amish roots and finding out more about her father and why and how he had come to Wells Landing. Although Lori's life could have been orderly, marriage and a family, she knew there was more to life, things she could not learn if she followed her amish roots. She had to go out into the Englishe world to trace her father's roots--and learn why her father had kept secrets. This book will keep you up late each night, many nights I read much later than I should have. But it's a spell-binder. Well written and true to amish practices.

I just finished reading Lorie’s Heart by Amy Lillard. It is the third book in the Wells Landing Romance series. Lorie Kauffman’s father, Henry just passed away. Lorie was very close to her father and is having a hard time dealing with his death especially after she notices a notice on his chest (when she goes to identify the body with her step-mother). Lorie’s step-mother, Maddie, is less than cooperative. Then Lorie goes through a box of belongings given to them by the police. In it is a wallet with a driver’s license. Lorie is even more confused when the license has her father’s picture on it but the name Henry Mathis. Lorie is even more determined to find out more about her father and his secrets.Lorie convinces Like Lambright (a young man who left the Amish to become a race car driver) to take her to the address on her father’s license. It leads them to Sundale Retirement and Assisted Living Center. There Lorie finds a grandmother she never knew about. Betty Mathis is in the early stages of dementia and Alzheimer’s. Lorie also meets Zachary Wayne Calhoun. Zach works part-time at the center while he was finishing college (he just graduated). Zach is instantly attracted to Lorie and wants to get to know her better. Lorie starts coming to the center regularly to get to know Betty and, hopefully, find out more about her father. Lorie’s stepmother forces Lorie to start taking baptism classes in order to join the Amish church. Lorie is not sure she wants to join. She would have to give up her painting (which she has been doing in secret for many years) and marry Jonah Miller (a man she has been seeing since she was eighteen). Will Lorie find the answers she seeks? Will she decide to join the Amish church or jump the fence? You will have to read Lorie’s Heart to find out! Lorie’s Heart is a lovely book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It may be the third book in the series, but it can easily be read by itself. I give Lorie’s Heart 5 out of 5 stars. It is a book that can be read in an afternoon (especially if it is raining). It is well-written and engaging. I received a complimentary copy of Lorie’s Heart from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The review and opinions expressed are my own.

Lorie's Heart***** e-book by Amy LillardLorie Kauffman's father dies unexpectedly leaving behind secrets and many questions about who he really was. As Lorie uncovers the secrets he had hidden from them all, will she be even more heartbroken? Was he living two-lives, one as an Amish husband and father and one outside the Amish community in the English (non-Amish) world? Secretly Lorie digs into his past and uncovers some very unsettling information. The more she digs the more she is confused. Where does she belong, in the Amish or English world? What of the young man she plans to marry? Lorie's heart is even more unsure of what to do as she continues digging into her father's past. Each character brings different aspects to the story and I found myself wanting to help them as they learn to live with the secrets uncovered. The story has us following along as they experience many different emotions: tears, heartache, grief, difficult decisions, laughter and humor, secrets revealed, love and faith. A great story that kept me guessing at what secret would be revealed next and what decision Lorie would ultimately make.~I received an e-book copy from Netgalley for my honest review~

Secrets always come out so when Lorie Kauffman’s father passes away unexpectedly she discovers he’d been leading two lives, one of simplicity in Wells Landing and one in nearby Tulsa. As Lorie starts digging into her family’s past she finds herself more and more confused and uncertain where she belongs. Lorie feels drawn to things outside the Wells Landing Amish community and doesn’t understand. As secrets are uncovered, can Lorie find the courage she needs? Will she find the answers to all her questions. Why does she feel so drawn to help the seniors at the assisted living center with their craft projects or is it wrong to want to paint pictures if God has given you that talent? Every Amish girl dreams of the day she marries, has a home of her own and raises a family, so why is she so resistant? Jonah won’t wait forever. If joining the church and staying in Wells Landing means living without Zach, can she survive? This is a beautiful story of finding peace, acceptance and love.
