2.5 starsH wants revenge on h's dad for ruining his father. H makes a deal to buy the business to keep FIL out of prison. h overhears convo between dad and H - she assumes that marriage is a business deal. Dad embellished even more to make her feel bad (dad is a jerk, verbal abuser, etc.) h was in love with H but turns cold after hearing everything and suggests a marriage in name only. H's pride is hurt and they live separate lives for a couple of years. h wants a divorce—H suggests a wedding night/honeymoon for 10 days. H will fix school for poor children where h volunteers if she agrees or she will be destitute.

This was an okay read, started out good, the middle fell flat and picked up towards the end. I did like the part when the hero went on bended knee to re propose marriage to the heroine. The ending was too abrupt and could have benefitted with an epilogue.

Hero marries heroine cause he wants vengeance and social upgrade. She finds out on their wedding night and withholds sex. Their marriage is sterile for a year and a half until Lucy decides she wants a divorce. Dio accepts but first he demands the wedding night and honeymoon they never had. Sexy read, lovable characters and great chemistry! I loved it! Wish there was an epilogue.

I got this one from the library and it was just OK. There were too many misunderstandings that would've been resolved with one conversation. And the h is just as guilty as the H for the problems in their marriage. I can't really recommend this one.

3.5 stars- 4 stars. Went back and forth of what rating I was going to give this book because at parts it was really good and then at other times it wasn't so great. I came to the rating after comparing the book I read yesterday to this one and I found the one I read yesterday I liked more than this one. The beginning of the book was really, really good and I was really into but then as the story continued on it just petered out for me. Then my discontent for the story began because I just didn't feel as much despite many new truths were revealed and misunderstandings dissuaded. But even still I just disconnected and felt less emotionally involved than in the beginning half. I loved the setup and presentation of the beginning of this marriage in trouble with many miscommunications that have occurred and led to hurt feelings from both sides. I could feel Dio and Lucy's hurt as well as wanting a connection with one other that had not yet occurred both emotionally and physically. The want there was true and steady throughout. They wanted that but they refused to separate the gap by keeping to themselves and have this emotionaless and loveless making their marriage empty and meaningless and just a show for the public nothing more. It was established early on this was a trouble marriage that needed a push to get them closer. That catalyst was Lucy getting the courage to ask for a divorce then the fireworks began. So that was good. Their chemistry was good with all this back up sexual tension going on from months of being a sexless Union even though deep down they really wanted each other. The passion very real between them. And it was felt by me the reader. I loved feeling all that tension between them and it added to the edge to the story. They were magnets that attracted even though they were determined to repel. The first time scene was really well done. It was finally a release of all that sexual tension and poured into their passion for one another. But even though it was sexy I think what took over for the scene was the tenderness and emotion in the scene. It was so much more than just two needing to get laid. It was beautiful when they came together, finally skin to skin that connection that they wanted and needed all this time in their marriage. It was a satisfying scene in more than one way. I was happy with. Then after that the book slowed down a bit though I can't put my finger on why. There were more lovemaking scenes on a secluded paradise just for the two of them on their belated honeymoon, the scenes were sexy and hot, there was her getting sick and him taking care of her, showing his tender side, and them just getting to know each other and learning the truth about one another. It's a lot going on during their honeymoon but it just felt blah to me. There wasn't any real excitement to it even though it should with the secluded feel. I think the big thing was that the angst and emotional piece seemed to disappear or at least was diluted in the second half. There was just so much in the first half that I expected to keep the same pace and didn't. Even the emotional turmoil and torment just tampered off in the second half that it felt less emotional to me as well as less felt. I kind of felt indifferent by it all. I was kind of indifferent to the characters as well. Didn't love them. Didn't hate them. Just felt neutral towards them. They felt stereotypical to me and not as interesting as they could have been. There were a bit blah as well. Wasn't rooting for them or care so much if they got their happily ever or not. Not a good sign in a romance. Despite the fact that this story had flaws to it, in the grand scheme of things I liked it. Definitely didn't hate it and was readable. Just I needed a little bit more of an emotional punch as well as the angst to carry all the way through then this would have been a winner. But I got through it quickly and enjoyed it.

Another good read from CW I've enjoyed the last couple of books I've picked up of hers. In this one the H is again pretty much smitten and he ends up stalking his missus for the day to find out what she was up to. It was obvious from the start he had clearly fallen for her because he changed his life for her, didn't take his revenge, married her AND was celibate (YAY) for the whole time they were married and wasn't even trying to wind up the h with OW.the h was a little bit of a numptie believing her crook of a dad considering his track record so our poor H suffered for no reason really. He was a villain company embezzler who really should have got his just desserts. This was another H with a h who didn't really make his wife do anything she didn't want to even though he was going to blackmail her so he gets points for that and in the end he was super cute. I did think the ending of this story seemed pretty abrupt i wanted it tying up a bit neater of a super lovely epilogue with dogs and babies and after school tutoring awards!

"Nicely drawn sexual chemistry makes Williams’ story a pleasure to read. Dio is compelling in his sexiness and in his desire to sweep Lucy off her feet. There’s nothing better than a reformed playboy" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
