What a fabulous story this one is two people who married in haste with issues that neither of them had overcome and a lot of misunderstanding led to a five year break but when Caro's father passes away Jack decides that it is time to finally end things but his trip to London is about to change his life and Caro's.Caro had been pushed around by her father forever so when she meets Australian Jack Pearce and they fall in love they marry against her father's wishes and sadly after not taking the time to listen to each other the marriage breaks down you see Jack so desperately wants a family and Caro is not so sure that she does and she is way over being pushed around, so Jack takes off with a lot left unsaid and both get on with their lives. Caro doing well as an antiques dealer and Jack with a security company. But when they meet again the spark is still there hotter than ever but now there are even more hurdles to overcome and a mystery to solve which brings them closer together and lots of truths coming out it is emotional and heart-warming.This is a beautifully written story that will grab you from the first page I loved the setting and it is such a great second chance for both Caro and Jack whom are characters that are so real and lovable my advice get a drink sit back and enjoy this story it really is a joy to read so much in their pasts to overcome and the strength that is shown by both especially Caro will have you smiling and cheering her on, MS Douglas has done it again another one for the keeper shelf one not to be missed.

The story was okay. I liked the idea of Jack and Caro rekindling the romance by being partners in crime but it didn’t really turn out as I expected. They were so much aware of each other it became annoying; it was also repetitive with the same expressions being used over and over again. For instance, there’s a part where Jack opens up about his past to Caro - something that apparently he never did before - and yet, inevitably, their thoughts go straight to desire. It’s like they couldn't have a serious conversation for more than 5 minutes. I think they could’ve gone with the “think less, talk more” strategy. They sure needed it. 5 years is a long time to unravel. The resolution of the snuffbox mystery was plausible in light of Caro’s dysfunctional relationship with her father. But when Jack hid the truth from her, I twisted my nose. Since he was making such an effort to change, I think it was out of character. And I liked the ending, mostly because Caro finally stood up for herself.

A Deal to Mend Their Marriage by Michelle DouglasCaroline Fielding's (Caro) husband is back. They are not officially divorce however she has not seen him in 5 years. The sparks sill flies between her and Jack Pearce.Caro lost her father, who had been very persuasive over the years and her mom had died when she was a little girl. Her father had remarried and when he died Caro expected the will would read that the majority would go to his present wife. However Caro received a shock and when the will was read Caro got it all. Caro's father believed that Barbara had been stealing from him and that was the reason for giving her nothing. However it was not her but the butler Paul who had been taking things.Caro was an antique dealer and was set to present a snuffbox to a client later that day and when she went to get the item from the mansion safe it was missing. She could be fired from her job that she loved. Caro had been living in her own apartment and had stayed the night at the mansion that was why the snuffbox was in the safe. She returns to her apartment and encounters Paul. He had his own private investigation company and Caro tells him about the missing box. He promises to help her find it. He had shown up to finally end things with Caro and instead do they find love again. Does he find the snuffbox and who took it? Michelle Douglas did a wonderful job leading up to the end of the book and what all went wrong in Caro and Jack's marriage. Enjoy!!

A DEAL TO MEND THEIR MARRIAGE by author Michelle Douglas is a February 2016 release by Harlequin Romance series.Caroline Fielding did not expect to be the sole heiress of her estranged father’s estate. Now that she was, she expected a catch but it all seemed above board and fair. Only thing was her father hadn’t made any provisions for her stepmother and Caro had full intentions to split her inheritance with her. But someone has taken a valuable object which was in her safe keeping. Could it be her stepmother? When Jack Pierce, Caro’s ex-husband shows up to get her to sign the divorce papers, she enlists his help in uncovering the theft. But could she keep her heart intact after working in close proximity with Jack? Because whatever they might say, their attraction to each other and the chemistry between them was still as explosive as ever.A DEAL TO MEND THEIR MARRIAGE is an intriguing romance with off the charts chemistry between Caro and James. The characters of Caro and James leap off the page and it feels as if we are viewing them interacting in their daily lives. Author Michelle Douglas has her unique way of spellbinding her readers and keeping them engrossed in the story till the very last page. I loved the mystery and intrigue aspect of this story.Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

I absolutely loved it!Reunion tropes are really interesting if written well and this is one such instance. There is not only romance for one to chew on but the excitement of subterfuge as well. in the path to reach the truth one gets to trod on feet and bear the consequences that result.Caroline and Jack never had lack of love between them but what they lacked was understanding. Their story a glaring neon sign that love without understanding and trust is nothing but a fickle emotion that bestows not a happily ever after but insurmountable misery and pain to both parties involved. Both Jack and Caroline never denied the fact (to themselves) that they loved each other and will probably love each other forever. And this honesty in it's own way became their guiding star and brought them back home. To each other.

This was a fun, well-done romance between estranged spouses who come back together after 5 years apart to clear the air and push through their divorce, but they end up solving a mystery instead -- and rekindling their feelings for each other in the process. The romance is fun and at moments, very heart-wrenching, and the mystery was a nice add -- I didn't guess the solution! A fast, fun read.

This book was a wonderful story. I loved reading it. There was enough suspense to keep me reading it. Loved watching Jack and Caro get back to love, trust and to be honest to each other. Great story

A second chance story with a mystery twist that was wasted on me because I don’t like mysteries. I wish the author had spent more time with the angsty reasons for the H/h separation rather than having them discuss the mystery of the missing snuffbox. Yes, it’s makes their second chance more plausible that their hurtful separation is five years in the past and they can work together – but I missed the high emotions and drama from the Presents line. That being said, this was well done. The author paced out the mystery and the reveal of what went wrong in the marriage with a light touch. So I won’t discuss the mystery because I don’t care about it (and how quickly the heroine forgave the culprits was beyond me), but I will discuss the romance.H was an Australian policeman who married the London-based heiress heroine five years before. Since then he has started his own private investigation company and is rich. He was a foster child and wanted children. The heroine, who was just 25 and starting out in the auction house world, wasn’t ready for a family. Her father was controlling and the heroine had learned to hide her feelings and value her independence. (view spoiler)[ When the heroine found out she was pregnant, she didn’t tell the hero. He only found out about when the surgeon’s office called to confirm her termination. The hero didn’t give her a chance to explain and returned to Australia. Only later do you find out that the heroine’s pregnancy was etopic and that she didn’t tell the hero before the surgery because she didn’t want to give him a child and take it away all in one sentence. She also was warned she might be infertile after the surgery and she was waiting to find out if that would be the case. She didn’t think the hero would want to stay married if she couldn’t give him a child.(hide spoiler)]If you read the spoiler you can see that it is one doozy of a misunderstanding. The hero thought the heroine was selfish and the heroine thought the H’s love was conditional. I did like that the author explored this need for children – but I wish she had drilled a little deeper into the hero’s motivations and why he’s changed his tune since. The heroine was Pollyanna personified. She really did see the good in people – even in the suspects of the mystery and her husband who broke her heart. Their abrupt separation left her in grief and the hero in anger. So it makes sense that it is the hero who is the one with the divorce papers. Once the hero found out the truth, he realizes he wants the heroine back and he realizes how sad she has been. There are some cute scenes where he signs her up for a Scrabble club and dance lessons. They did work well together solving the mystery – and I can believe their HEA. There is no sex in this book – not even fade to black. They did not fall into bed together even though there was great attraction. They each confessed to a "disastrous" one night stand during their five year separation.

A lovely reunion story of Caroline Fielding and Jack. Caroline is having a very difficult day. First she finds out at the reading of her fathers will that even though she inherits everything from a father who was unkind to her, he has left nothing to his much younger wife Barbara, which Caroline feels is an injustice. Then she goes to retrieve an antique snuffbox from the safe to find it missing. Noticing the jewelry is gone she goes to Barbara and finds she has the jewelry but not the snuffbox. To avert her dismissal from the auction house she cancel her appointment and heads to her apartment to come to some conclusion. Here she comes face to face with her past, her estranged husband of 5 years Jack, and to add to her day he has come for a divorce. Ms. Douglas takes you on a wonderful romp with her characters as Jack who has his own private investigation company, is asked by Caroline if he could help find the missing snuff box. He finds the snuff box and along the way they find out all about each other . A lovely story not to be missed.

This was a lovely angsty read about two people who married in haste and lost their way. I loved how they worked to find their way back to each other. Would have been a five star read if not for both of them being unfaithful while apart. They were not divorced but separated.

A Deal to bLend Their MarriageWritten in a British style. The people seemed stiff and not three dimensional in characters. It was a fun read. Trying to figure out how the story line would go. It started when a man died and left his estranged daughter everything. His wife of twelve years nothing. And the daughter is left with her estranged husband wanting a divorce. What a hodgepodge of situations and characters. If you like that type of writing you will enjoy this one.

I loved this second-chance story. While I knew the missing snuffbox was important to the story, I did not pick the way that Michelle used it as a symbol for Caro's heart. A beautiful story - although sometimes I felt like shaking Caro and Jack, then telling them to get themselves together. The only drawback was that I wanted to see a bit more of their happiness after they reunited at the end.

"Romance readers will love the banter between Caroline and Jack, and root for their relationship to work. Douglas' book is highly entertaining and a lot of fun - with a mysterious plot point to boot" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

"A Deal to Mend Their Marriage" by Michelle Douglas is a classic romantic book, and I loved it. Caroline Fielding (Caro) and her estranged husband Jack Pearce meet again after 5 years of not seeing each other. There is definitely sparks still between them, and even though they had planned on divorcing the papers were never signed. After Caro's father passes away and leaves everything to her in his will, and nothing to his current wife because he thought she was stealing from him, Caro feels as if that is unjust. Seems as if the perp stealing was someone close to the family after all, and Caro needs Jack's help.
