I received this book for an honest review. This is an excellent book with some mystery and lots of twists and turns. Lewis last sees his dear friend Jane as they are riding through a storm while practicing how to ride a horse standing on its back. Lewis becomes angry as Jane is doing so much better than he. His last words to her as she disappears is about her being plain. 18 years later Lewis has purchased Jane's family land and is training wild horses to sell. His is thrown by the horse he is working with. As he lies on his back on the ground a plain face with beautiful eyes hovers over him claiming to be Jane. Is this Jane or an imposter? To find out you must read this intriguing book.

Another hit from Ms. Nelson! I'm finding it hard to write this review because what I REALLY want to do is just recap the whole story for anyone who might read this :). I loved this as much as the first book in the series. There's humor and deep emotion. Challenges to tackle, lies to uncover, truths to face and fears to conquer. Animals, particularly horses, are featured members that move parts of the story along. We have a return of some characters from Between Love and Lies so it's nice to catch up with them but there's a twist with a few others that I did not see coming but fit perfectly with rather large revelation. There's blackmail afoot but not just one plot and it kept me guessing until the characters had all the pieces click into place. Again I loved the depth of Ms. Nelson's characters. I wasn't left wondering at each of their motivations or their moral compass. There are the good guys, the bad guys and a few of them that straddle that fence so you can't love them but you're not sure you really dislike them either. I can't wait to read the next chapter in this ongoing series.I received an ARC of this novel for an honest review!

I always feel so privileged when an author allows me to read her work before it hits the shelves. This is another wonderful story by this author. I was swept away into another time and place, back into the mid 1800s. This story starts out 18 years earlier with childhood friends Jane and Lewis, when Jane disappeared into a storm.Come forward in time and is Jane alive, or is this an imposter? This is a journey of love overcoming obstacles in their paths, blackmail, murder and some friends who are not who they seem. The story was well written, grabbing the reader and thrusting them into the surrounds. You can almost smell the dirt and the horses. The characters were engaging and will have you wondering what will happen next. Will there be a HEA?For lovers of romance in past and modern times I recommend this book.

This is a good second book in the Gambling Hearts series and a stand alone story. Lewis's friend, Jane, disappeared on horseback when they were children. 18 years later a woman returns and claims that she is Jane and that she has a right to the land that he has purchased. All Lewis had to do was look in the woman's eyes to know she wasn't Jane but why, and how does she know so much about him and what they did as children. The more he is around this woman the deeper he falls for her, but she is already another man's wife. How will this story pan out and will he ever be reunited with his friend Jane?* I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Move over Annie Oakley, here comes Eldorado Jane. She’s smart, spunky and loves being the star of a Wild West Show. Lewis Adams might call her Angel Eyes but that doesn’t mean she‘s ready to abandon all she’s achieved. Strongly attracted to the sexy rancher, there’s more than her own future at stake. A journey of two hearts torn by blackmail, secrets and lies, then bound by friendship and love. The author of this fresh, exciting and inspiring romance never disappoints. Ms. Nelson’s grasp of the old west, the clarity of her writing and her obvious love of her genre engage the reader through every twist and turn.I enjoyed this ride through the Wild West and hope you will too!

This was a fun, yet nail biting story, second in the series. I came to care for the characters quickly and hoped everyone would come together. Lewis is such a care, honest man. He knew right away that Eldora was special as well as not who she pretended to be. Eldora's heart is big when it comes to family, and she will do whatever she can to help them. Dangers from nature as well as men make they journey a bit bumpy, but with the help of loved ones, they both rise about it all. I highly recommend this book and the series.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Again with twists and turns, characteristic to the author, that will not let you put the book down and keep you on the edge of your seat, nicely woven with a heartwarming lost love story. With a beautiful and interesting story line, nicely depicted strong main characters and a flowing dynamic, this book is both captivating and fulfilling not able to disappoint any romance avid reader. I received a copy and voluntarily reviewed.

I enjoyed this as the author spins a tale of mystery, suspense and danger with lots of twists and turns. At times I found it a little confusing. It didn’t hold my interest as much as some of Ms. Nelson other works has. The story begins where Lewis and Jane are riding holds lot of mystery as she rides away never to be seen again. Fast forward 18 years with a women coming to Lewis home saying she is his long lost friend demanding his land that is rightful hers. He is sure this is not the case but she holds facts that only Jane would know. I loved the mystery around Eldorado and the hints she gives Lewis. It was really interesting and holds your attention. Danger is near with many unanswered questions. Someone wants this land and they are willing to kill for it. The mystery is why they want the land and if Eldorado Jane is not his Jane who is she and where is Jane. As they answers unfold you are left in the balance of life and death as one and then another die. Will Lewis, his friends and Eldorado Jane make it out alive, what about Jane? The romance is a slow build as these two works out some major issues. Friendships will be built along with strong bonds. I really enjoyed visiting characters from the first book it was nice to see how their lives were going along. It was exciting read just not as exciting as some of this authors work. The dangerous scenes do leave you holding your breath waiting to see who will make it out alive. The characters are wonderful, the scenes are in such vivid detail that you can picture them. It is a great addition to this series. It is an outstanding read just doesn’t hold me on the edge as some of her other books have. Does that mean it isn’t worth your time NO it was exciting and a very enjoyable story with a great plot, it adds a lot to the series. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds.

The he second book in the Gambling Hearts series really builds on the setting and people of the first. I so enjoyed this book! Lewis and Jane are friends in childhood who have different dreams of the future. They are separated during a terrible storm, and it is as though she disappeared. As an adult, Lewis has purchased the farm that Janes' family had owned and is working to train saddle horses for the Army. He is confronted by a man who says Jane is alive and wants the land back, which was a provision of the land deal. Lewis meets the woman named Jane and she knows everything about him and his family, knows the history of the area, but he is not convinced. There are dark forces at work to gain the land, to control natural resources, and enact vengeance on the new characters as well as some we met in the first book.Do not start this book in the evening! I got no sleep that night, but was truly entertained. It's a great story with twists and turns I really didn't expect. These are complex characters that reveal themselves slowly, but I can see that this series is a keeper series, one I will visit again and again.

I had the privilege of reading the second book in Jacqui Nelson's Gambling Hearts series and loved it. Jane Dority vanished from her home eighteen years ago while out riding in a storm with her best friend Lewis Adams. He's always felt guilty that he couldn't keep up with her and wishes that she would someday come home. When Eldorado Jane rides into town wanting to claim her birthright, the Dority homestead Adam knows for certain that she is not his Jane, but she knows something about her whereabouts. Adam finds himself drawn to her in spite of her secrets and the potential to break his heart. I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Who is Eldora Jane the fancy rider in the show? Jane Dority disappeared many years ago and now someone claiming to be Jane wants to claim the ranch that Lewis Adams is ranching. With them comes trouble from many sides. Can Lewis and Eldora overcome this and fine a life together? While this is book 2, it is a standalone and any references to book 1 are explained. I read book 1 for my enjoyment but it was not necessary.

Who is Eldorado Jane? The heroine of Jacqui Nelson’s Between Home & Heartbreak (second in her Gambling Hearts series) is the star of Calhoun’s Wild West Show, but is she also Jane Dority, who disappeared as a child eighteen years ago after Gypson’s Medicine Show visited the tiny town of Juniper Flats, Texas? She says she is, and she’s laying claim to the Dority homestead. But Lewis Adams, Jane’s childhood friend and current owner of the Dority property, doesn’t believe her. She seems to have Jane’s memories, but she doesn’t have Jane’s eyes. But she does know horses, and Lewis needs help with the herd he’s contracted to train for the Texas Rangers. The bet Eldora and Lewis make for ownership of the homestead turns out to be the least of their worries, as deception, blackmail, old enemies, and even the weather combine to thwart their plans.Readers of Nelson’s Old West adventures first met Lewis in Between Love and Lies. Also reappearing from that novel are Noah and Sadie Ballantyne and a few other unexpected visitors. Between Home and Heartbreak is a very satisfying follow up to Between Love and Lies. You don’t have to read them in order, but why not?

Enjoyable! This is an excellent western historical romance featuring many of the characters we were introduced to in the first book in the series, as well as several larger-than-life characters based on actual historical figures in the fashion of Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane. I especially liked the addition of Colonel Calhoun's Wonderful West extravaganza because it was practically a character in itself. I'm not a horse riding enthusiast but even I could appreciate Eldora's amazing riding skills and her dedication to teaching her horse, Samson, all of the flashy tricks they perform together in every show. With beautifully descriptive language and meticulous attention to detail, the author captures the majesty of the wild west extravaganza and places the reader in a front row seat. I could picture the whole performance in my head as I read along. I was a little disappointed that this story didn't tug on my heartstrings like the first one did. I enjoyed Eldora and Lewis's romance but it fell short of the passion and angst I felt throughout the first book. Even so, this is a well written, fast paced and totally enjoyable reading experience.

Jacqui Nelson has a way of transporting you back in time. You feel like you are part of history and part of her stories. She writes strong male and female characters who can stand on their own but choose to share their lives and struggles with others. Two such heroines are Eldora and Jane. Both craved the spotlight as rodeo riders which had been primarily a male dominated world.Calhoun was in the business just for the money and exploited the woman who was his star. When he wants the homestead that Jane would have inherited, he bullies Eldora to help him get it.This book brings some of the characters from book one into it but it can be read as a stand alone. It has intrigue, deceit, romance, and lots of horses.I was given this book for an honest review. I recommend this to everyone.

A tale of love, loss and deception. The second book in this series is just as good as the first. As a boy, Lewis Adams lost his best friend Jane in a storm now she has come back - or has she? Lewis has spent every penny he had buying up her family's old place and now the woman calling herself Jane has come to claim it back but in is heart Lewis knows that this woman with 'Angel Eyes' can't be plain Jane. Who is she? She knows too much about him not to know Jane. Passion stirs and sparks fly in this roller coaster ride of emotion and adventure in which danger lurks around every corner bringing us to a thrilling conclusion.

Between Home And Heartbreak, the second in The Gambling Hearts Series, brings back some of the characters we met and fell for in Ms. Nelson’s first book in the series, Between Love And Lies. I enjoyed this story as much as the other, got caught up in the many conflicts, loved the humor and really enjoyed her talent in bringing the “Old West” alive for me. Jane Dority and Lewis Adams were wonderfully written and I felt as if I knew them well by ending…. that for me….came too soon. Delightfully entertaining.

Life can be tough when you are a female in the West. There aren't many options for a career that could sustain a body. Trick-riding in a Wild West Show can be filled with accolades and wealth. The trouble with that is there is always a controlling man waiting to take advantage. That's what brings Jane Dority home to Texas. Or is she Jane? Lewis isn't so sure, but from the moment he sets eyes on Eldorado Jane, he's bound to save his childhood friend and this mysterious woman.

I enjoyed reading this book with it's many interesting characters and secrets. There is a mystery to solve and secrets to discover that will bring answers about a long lost friend and find true love. I enjoyed re-visiting Noah & Sadie Ballantyne from book one, and look forward to learning more about Noah's sisters in future books.

Full of action from the beginning and it just escalated from there. Lewis was amazing and Eldora was the best match, full of spunk and sparks. They had obstacles at every turn and awesome friends to get in the mix with them.

I’ve always been a fan of take charge women who rule their own destinies, so Eldorado Jane struck a cord with me right away.Imagine being married to a man you detest for a decade in order to protect the people you love.Eldora is the star of her husband’s Wild West Show, but that’s not all. She’s also being forced to pretend she’s someone she’s not in order to gain the rights to a piece of land owned by Lewis Adams. When Lewis meets Eldora he sees a similarity to his old friend, Jane, but quickly realizes the woman pretending to be her has an agenda of her own. Still, he can’t help the attraction that he feels for this mysterious woman. Can she lead him to Jane? Why is she lying, and why does she want his land? And can he find out all her secrets without falling in love? What follows is a story of blackmail, heart-pounding excitement, and suspense. My favorite lines:Her voice had dropped to a conspiratorial whisper. “I’m sorry. I’m going to have to hurt you again.”“Eldora, is he dead?” The not-too-distant bellow made them both flinch. The eagerness in that shout rang in his skull like the bells of hell anticipating a funeral. That’s fresh writing!I give Between Home and Heartbreak 5 lovely kissesIt's All About the Romancehttp://jacqbiggar.com

Jacqui Nelson has done it again! I had the privilege of reading Between Home & Heartbreak in the Gambling Heart Series in advance and it is fantastic! Much like Noah & Sadie from Between Love & Lies; Lewis & Eldora (or should I say Jane or maybe Dory, you’ll have to read to find out who’s who), are my new favourite couple. The intensity of their love affair is filled with lust, danger and down right romantic. I love seeing Noah, Sadie and even Handsome John show up in this romantic tale of kidnapping, blackmail and best of all, romance! Need I say more? Hurry up and read Jacqui’s latest Gambling Hearts Series.

Jacqui Nelson's Between Home & Heartbreak is another award winning novel. Jacqui has a way of weaving humor into her books mixed with intriguing deep emotions. This is an awesome book filled with twists and turns that only Jacqui Nelson can pull off. She has you wondering if the bad guys are really good or just an illusion. I love that she brings characters from book 1, Between Love & Lies back into this book. The real question is, who is Eldorado Jane??? And can Lewis trust her??? Questions all answered after you open the book and get swept away!

A New Wild-West Adventure-MysteryBetween Home & Heartbreak is a multi-layered mystery set in the Wild West. Deception, blackmail and deceit gamble with the lives of rancher Lewis Adams and the mysterious Eldorado Jane. Filled with conflict and intrigue the story pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the very end. My favorite line is: “Lord help him, he was a damned fool. She’d come to take his land and he wanted to be her knight in shining armor.”
