    Ian Drake is one of the twin guitarists for the rock band Darkest Days, he known for breaking hearts & being a mischievous flirt. Most everyone calls the twins Daimian because they cannot tell Ian & Damon apart. Hope Briars is an intern working for the band's production company & it is her job to make sure the band members go on stage with all their proper props. Hope sees the differences between the twins & she doesn't fall for their antics of trying to confuse everyone into not know which one is which. She makes it very clear she knows who they each are. Ian notices this about her right away & tells her she is special. She doesn't want to take him seriously when he flirts with her because he flirts everyone. Hope finds it hard to resist him because he does have a way of looking at her like she is something special. They decide to have a fling, no strings attached & to go their separate ways when it is over. It just for fun. Rock stars like Ian are capable of long-term commitments. It isn't as easy as Hope would have thought she has a hard time keeping her heart out of it. When she realizes Ian is keeping something from her, she tries to get him to open up but he won't. She begins to feel like it is all an act & decides to end the fling. Still concerned about Ian she stumbles onto his secret & isn't sure what to do with the information she now possesses. Will Hope tell the band members what she saw? Will Ian every be willing to talk to Hope again after her discovery? Do Ian & Hope stand a chance at a relationship now that the secret is out?This second book in the Darkest Days series is about two very guarded people learning to trust enough to be themselves & let go with another person. Each having a painful secret keeping them from allowing themselves to be free with their feelings. Yet when they learn to trust that their love is bigger than their secrets the healing from them starts. I thoroughly enjoyed how Athena Wright wrote how our fangirl Hope could be obsessed with her rock star Ian & still want to hold herself back. It's just a fling. There maybe some triggers in this book for some because it does deal with self-harm & should be read with that in mind. This book is meant for mature readers.I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

    The fans are all screaming for Damian so what could go so wrong with that especially when you are twins who are in one of the hottest rock bands? Damon and Ian have turned into one entity within the band doing everything exactly the same from the clothes they wear, to the guitar riffs they kill, to the women they take. What happens when you lose your own self in all of this? Ian is flabbergasted when there is an intern who catches his eye and she actually knows the difference between himself and Damon. They have all tried to trick her into messing up on her unusual acknowledgement of Ian and only Ian.Hope is that intern who is a huge fan of Darkest Days and definitely knows the difference between Ian and Damon. She also knows that she has to do her job the best way she knows how because it would be great to land a job at Etude and work with not just Darkest Days but others as well. Hope has been burned badly once before and is not going to trust anyone with her heart again especially some playboy rock star…no matter how much he flirts with her. When Hope finally gives in to all of Ian’s flirting she does knowing it’s only a one and done thing. Well what if that one and done turns into a “fling”? She knows her heart can’t take another beating like it did before but she can’t help but falling for Ian.I have to say that this was one of those books that you couldn’t put down because you had to see if the Hope/Ian thing would work out especially the way they had such a hot connection but that connection also came with some dark hidden secrets that could end a life. That part was intense and the author did a fantastic job of bringing that “untalked” about subject to the forefront. Ms. Wright also gives you an unexpected surprise at the end. I am definitely a fan and can’t wait for the next book to come out with the guys from Darkest Days.I received this book as an ARC for a freely given honest review.

    After reading Hard Rock Tease, I was super excited the twins got a book.Reading this book I learned Ian was not what he seemed at all and hid behind the facade of Damian until he meets Hope who is the only person ever been able to see through him.But Hope off of a recent heartbreak is unwilling to relent to Ian's charm and gives him a alternate option, hook up only no emotions involved.As they become closer a secret from Ian starts to tear them apart and brings out Hopes insecurities.I hope to get more of the Darkest Days series in the future.I voluntarily reviewed a arc of this book

    Damian and IanI've read a few other books in this series, and always enjoyed them. I am a sucker for musician love stories--I grew up in a house of musicians, so no surprise there. This story could be even richer if Ian's compulsions were explored more in depth; as published, the story glosses over the issue, which is an injustice to others suffering similar conditions. Anyway, good story, I just wish it could have more meat.

    Oh my goodness, I LOVE THIS SERIES ... fell in love with the 1st book, was super glad to see the 2nd was out very very quickly for me, I don't wait very well, not very patient. see why you should follow your favorite-est authors .. I loved this book. Ian is definitely my favorites of the twins. There is a sort of mini secret at the end, Epilogue you will see this bit. I was shocked, Athena had me there. So glad Hope can into Ian's life. I am not familiar with any one who does or has dealt with "self harm", I just don't get it, pain is too much for me personally, I can only imagine it would be so heartbreaking to have a lover, boyfriend, friend, family member or any suchness ... breaks my heart. tears at those heartstrings. I did tear up at that. Rough. I really wanna meet Cameron, gosh, I hope I have the right name there, red haired dude ... he sounds like a real thinks he is all that & snaps, I can not wait until his book. I live for this series, ha. ha!! giggles! Just look forward to it so much! Come on .. come & join us. You will love this series! ( ;

    3 1/2 Stars - Ian is not only part of Darkest Days Rock Band - but part of Damian the other half of his twin brother and fellow band mate Damon- The Twins as they are known are considered one person by everyone and they do nothing to dissuade anyone from the moniker, until intern Hope chooses to refer to him by Ian. Hope is the only one that has the ability to tell the twins apart and since she is crushing big time on Ian, this catches his attention. What starts out as a fling turns into much more. We learn that Ian is actually hurting from his past and Damon felt the need to protect him. Damon isn't too pleased that Hope as their new Image Consultant wanted to "separate" the twins for their new video and media campaign, but gets on board when the need to shelter Ian is no longer and issue. I must be honest and say while I had some issues with this story, they are my issues. If you like rock stories that showcase the whole band and HFN endings, you will enjoy this latest offering.I have received an ARC for my review

    Excellent. Well worth the time to read this novel. Ms. Wright hits her target of making characters more than what they seem and in this case there are very emotional pathos to the character as well. I really enjoy all her work and can hardly wait for the next installment in this series to arrive. I do believe I am a fan of this author and highly recommend her work to all.

    It's not your typical rock star romance! This book was fantastic, it was hot, sexy, sweet, funny at times, with just a touch of angsty darkness...I loved every single thing about this book!

    Very insightful reading. Not just a romance per se but a telling of an issue in life that is clearly presented and I think I understand now. :)

    received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I have read all the Feral Silence books and the Darkest Days book #1. I like the books because of the characters, and remember some books more than others. This book however has stayed in my mind since I finished it, even after starting another book. Hope is an intern who starts to work Etude and has to be sure DAMIAN gets their sunglasses before a concert. No one really pays attention to which twin is which but Hope can tell Ian and Damon apart from the start. This intrigues Ian. Hope's boss at Etude doesn't really want any help from an intern other than to take care of the grunt work. Hope comes up with an idea for the band that her boss wants to squash but the band members overhear it, and decide to pursue it.Throughout the story Hope and Ian connect but there are some miscues. She really cares for him, and starts to notice some of his behavior that no one else does, except maybe Damon. As Hope struggles with her "fling" with Ian and trying not to become emotionally involved with him, she is also trying to put together a whole new concept/image/product for each of the band members and their new album. Hope figures out Ian's behavior and then comes up with a way to help him. The relationship between the two is caring and not crazy angsty like some relationships. Can't wait for the next one, and the next one, etc

    **I received this ARC in exchange for an honest voluntary review** As if I wasn't loving the series enough already, it just keeps getting better! Hope is an lowly intern for Etude Entertainment when she engages the attention of the twin guitarist entity Damian at one of Darkest Days' concerts. Ian has taken notice of her & more so for the way she addresses him. Soon enough, Hope turns from intern to image consultant for the band after August overhears her idea of competing w/ their rival band. Hope sees this as not only a career opportunity but also as a way to live out her fantasy of being w/ Ian & the feeling is mutual. Although Hope has a bad past relationship-wise, Ian is hiding something that could very well not only hurt the band but himself. The rockstar twin struggling to be his own person & the woman who sees him for who he is as a separate person. Absolutely loved this story, especially learning about Ian's past scars & how the twins will have separate stories. Love how different the band's personalities are yet they mesh together as a family & banter. Definitely cannot wait to read the next book! :D

    This is everythingI am so dang happy I found this series. Hard Rock Fling is book two in a Rock Star Romance (Darkest Days) by Athena Wright. This is a four book series but each story can be read as a standalone and they (so far) have had HEAs. I didn’t think I’d like rockstar romances but I was completely hooked with Noah and if that wasn’t enough Ian was just beautiful. Now please please note that there are some triggers in this book, so proceed with caution. That being said the story hit way closer to home than I ever thought it would. I loved how Hope tried so hard not to be a fan girl but really how can you not?! I also loved ‘The Twins’ aspect, to an extent, as their reputation makes it all the more interesting. Hope was perfect for Ian. I truly think she is everything that he needs to help him. They can both help each other heal. I am stoked to continue with the story but sad that there’s only two more books. I can’t sing enough praises for this series thus far.

    Well hot dam what a book! This book was simply amazing. So well thought out and even the sensitive mater of self harm problems was handled well. Speaking of which there are issues of self harm in this book. So if you have issues dealing with reading things of this nature. This may not be the book for you. That being said here is some information the author and I would like you to know. If you or someone you know is harming themselves, please don't keep quiet. Keeping that kind of secret doesn't help you or those you care about. Seek help. Talk with a counselor or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255). They are there to help.Now this book is about Hope. Well that kind of hope to, but the main characters name is Hope as well. And she has just landed an internship with the rock band Darkest Days. The one with the infamous twin Damon and Ian or Damian as everyone calls them. Or almost everyone that is until Hope. She sees Ian the real Ian. And she likes him not his twin. I cannot balm her after reading this book. Damon is wild thinks he is god’s gift. Oh and he even tries to slip her up. Trying to pretend he is Ian. But he could never do that, she is friends with Ian and maybe more than a fling is going on. But they will never know unless they open up with each other. Thank goodness Hope has her sister Faith to talk to and help her when she needs her. She is there to help Hope when she unsure of how to get a friend the help needed. But man that twist at the end was great. I loved the hell out of that epilogue.Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.

    I fell hard for Ian! And I ached for him. I wanted to wrap him up in a huge hug and not let go. To battle those demons! And Hope's strength and resolve to help him see his self worth- took guts. So many surprises in this one. So... does everyone in the band have a secret they aren't telling their bandmates? Just shows, you can be close to someone, see them constantly and still not know every facet of their life. What's on the table next? I had received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review

    These books are like mediocre sex: not very enjoyable, but you get there in the end. The characters here have the depth of a puddle. They have one or two personality traits and that's about it. At least in this book the hero is fairly likeable. I wish the heroines in this series had a modicum of self confidence; I don't want to read about someone else's impostor syndrome.I don't understand what they had in common other than physical attraction - there's not much romance here.

Ian flirts with Hope and is curious how she can tell the twins apart. He feels like Hope can see into his soul. Hope is trying to get over her boyfriend’s infidelity and is hurt and has trust issues. She knows the twins reputation of being womanizers. But both are unable to deny the growing attraction between them. Hope finally decides to jump in with Ian if only for a fling. But the fling becomes more to both of them. Ian is scared of what may happen if Hope learns his secret. Hope finally discovers that there is more to Ian than what the tabloids leak. Both let go and complement each other. This is a great read and brings to light a touchy subject.

    Even though this is the second book in the Darkest Days Series, this was the first book that I have read. I must say that from the beginning, the characters and story line enthralled me. Ms. Wright weaves a romantic tale that every fan girl has imagined happening. Ian and Damon, Damian) are twins who play the guitar for Darkest Days. Hope is an intern who is assisting the Darkest Days. When Hope is the only one who is able to tell difference between Ian and Damon, she is catches their attention and the undivided attention from Ian. Hope and Ian both have skeletons in their closet. Will they be able to overcome then and have a future together? I was given an ARC of the Hard Rock Fling from Ms. Wright. I am writing this review on my own free will. I adored the multi-layered dimensions that all of the characters have, especially Hope and Ian. If you want your romance with hot and steamy sex as well as the ups and downs of a relationship, then this book is definitely for you! Thank you Ms. Wright. I will definitely read the first book, and I look forward to reading the rest.

    This story has some dark corners, but is mostly fun. I think this is probably the best work I've read of Athena Wright.I will say that parts of this story are utterly beyond reason. This is generally true of Wright's work, which doesn't particularly detract from the story enjoyment. Just accept that the unreasonable is going to happen move on and enjoy the story. It's a rockstar romance. Doesn't have to be taken too seriously. And there are so many other fantastic things going on in this book once you get past that.Wright warns that this book deals with cutting. And it does. One of the best things is that we can see the signs far before we actually see the cutting, because the warning was there. For me that was actually one of the best aspects of the book. I loved seeing how Ian was a rockstar, with objectively everything going for him, yet he dealt with the pressure by self-harming. The dynamic between Ian and Damon was equally fascinating. Damon would make choices that were ultimately hurting Ian, but unaware since Ian never spoke up. It was such an authentic part of the cutting experience though-- because that in itself is another form of harm he's subjecting himself to. I think it's fantastic how this bit of Ian is discovered, and how even though Ian and Damon seem unaware of it, the others around him seem to know, or at least August. I really wish that Wright wrote using the shifting first person POV type in this book. Because I felt like it would have brought Ian so much more to life if we could have spent some time walking around in his head as opposed to getting it secondhand through Hope.I like that we got to see cameos from some of our favorite characters from the Feral Silence series. The pacing is perfect, the characters are fun and sometimes overly dramatic (okay Damon), the plot is a bit meh sometimes. But overall the story is fun and sweet and the story is really worth the read.
