After quitting her job as a public defender and moving back home to San Jose, she finds that life still isn't stress-free. Her widowed mother is depressed and stubborn. Her best friend is disillusioned with life as a stay-at-home mom. Alissa is feeling lonely and adrift. Taking on a few cases, she meets stripper Sheila and her dancer friends, who have taken to combating rudeness and greed. They tie up deadbeat dads and accost bad drivers, and soon the lingerie-clad bandits inspire copycat vigilantes. While trying to keep them out of jail, Alissa meets sexy detective E. J. Rodriguez.

"Balancing high heels" By Eileen Rendahl was an amazing book this book talked about everything .From law to divorces, tradition,to looks . This book just keeps on getting better as you continue to read.Eileen Rendahl really out did her self .The main character Alissa,a Jewish girl who just got out of a divorce moves back to her home town .She was really having a bad period in her life .Her father died which caused her mother to go into a depression .She herself who is an attorney tries to fix her life .Then she meets someone that helps her go through this rough time in her life with the help of her best friend Kathleen who also needed help to set her life back on track.I recommend this book to someone who is mature and has a good sense of humor .This book was fantastic and I can't wait to read more of Eileen Brendan's books

This book was a real surprise. I grabbed it while I was volunteering in the library bookstore and didn’t have much business. It looked like a dumb “chick lit” book that I could just flip through. I picked it because the blurb on the back of the book said it was set in San Jose, CA. --- It began as I expected, but then turned into a really funny good story. It began with a 30 year old public defender living in Los Angeles has a really bad day and destroys a fax machine at work. Besides loosing her job, and her husband (who had told her that day that he wanted a divorce because his girlfriend was pregnant!) the judge told her she had to attend anger-management classes for 6 months. She moves back to San Jose and tries to put her life back together. A fun quick read! …

Rendahl has taken serious situations; divorce, infidelity, crime, and self-worth, and put a bittersweet twist on them. The situations are sad and has you shaking your head and saying, "been there, done that." Alissa seems like she could be your sister, or your friend. The could be you feeling of the story brings it close to home, and close to your heart. After Rendahl's last book I couldn't wait for this one. What worked for me was that the author wrote great characters I could relate to, and it was hard for me to put down. Also, the author had me rooting for the Butterfly Brigade. It was a great read and I liked how each chapter starts with a page from the Anger Management workbook.

Alissa is a defense attorney who has recently found out that her husband (soon to be ex) has cheated on her, gave her an STD, and is now marrying the woman he cheated on her with because she is pregnant and he feels the need to do the right thing. So, she packs up her life and moves back to be closer to her best friend Kathleen, her mother and her sister Marsha. Alissa is dealing with a lot of anger management issues throughout the entire book and the plot centers on her finding her way off of "the anger train." This was a nice chick-lit book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by Rendahl.

This was an entertaining story of a woman in the process of divorce. She has anger management issues. It is set in contemporary times in San Jose, CA. Rendahl is funny. The start of each chapter presents brief methods for handling your behavior when feeling upset/angry. It is layed out like a page from an anger control class manual. Funny responses are provided by the protaganist.I started to read this because Rendahl was scheduled to speak at our library; however, I was not able to attend the talk.

This book was a nice easy chick lit read. Sometimes these are the best fillers between gruesome books or more serious books. This is an easy book where you don't have to think while reading it and it is a completely easy read. I actually enjoyed this one more than most as it was not like all of the other chick lit books that follow a certain path of which you know that path when you start the book. This one was better and I would recommend it.

I enjoyed this book much more than I thought. Oh...the beauty of the anger train!!This one had me smiling so much, even my hairdresser noticed. And I NEVER relax in front of my hairdresser (smile!). This book is a fun and easy read but also explores how uptight and angry most of us are. And it gives us permission to be angry, but also shows us we can do something about it...in spite of ourselves. I just have to love a book that I enjoy so much I barely notice I've been inspired.

This was so cute! I'm such a sucker for cheeky romance. I enjoyed her writing...a bit Sophie Kinsella-esk. She's right on about several life issues. Especially with me lately. She also has good advise and a positive perspective on things.:) I'm excited to read her other books.:)

This was chick-lit a cut above average. The narrator has been enrolled in anger management classes due to a workplace incident, and the author uses pages from an anger management workshop manual as chapter headings. The romance aspect is more believable than is often the case.

Very clever and sharp, with good characters and a protagonist that is likable but also grows appealingly as the book progresses.

This book was pretty good. It had a simple story, but was nice. It wasn't totally focused on romance, but of picking up the pieces.

Just finished this one and it's lovely. An engaging story about everyday people.[Eileen, there's so much of you in your books, I think that's why I like them so much. :-)]

Fun chic-lit with a group of stripper vigilantes fighting for the rights of the less fortunate. Kinda funny and heart warming.

A fun, light read. A good break from some of the heavier books I've read lately!

Witty funny dialogue but overall it was dull and rather preachy at the end. I really really wanted to like it cause I liked the humor and the asides but it left me sadly flat.

I loved this book! I thought that it has some great techniques on how to work through feelings that you have and added a bit of fun while trying to figure it out.
