A Pet for the Orphelines Reviews
The third Orpheline book starts with a swan visiting their back yard and the happy news that they can choose a pet. Josine who is devastated at the swan's return to the local park is desperate for a pet swan and the other girls who usually get on so well are now divided in their personal pet preferences. The character of Josine is wonderful, she is older now and has a strong personality and there were several very funny incidents involving this character. The problem of which pet to choose is resolved and the Orphelines await their move to the castle. There were one or two points on animal care that may need to be discussed if a read aloud. The illustrations by Pearl Falconer are wonderful and really suit the story.
