At last! A sock book focused on different heel and toe constructions, AND what kind of foot each is suitable for. Main focus is on construction, not on patterns (though there is a good selection based on different stitch styles) which is what I was looking for. However, the translation is a bit iffy, and the charts don't necessarily match up if using the ones in the back of the book. Also, curious lack of explanation about measuring feet and adjusting socks in that way. The reliance on shoe sizes is frustrating for those with non-standard feet.

Lost in translation.on the surface this book looks great, clear instruction pictures, good selection of pattern options to pick and choose. sadly, this book was originally written in German and at some point in the translation process the instructions seem to have become mangled, something that only becomes clear when you actually try to knit one of the patterns. apparently the German language original is very good and if you can read German i would definitely consider buying it instead.

will definitely be buying this one, a great resource for sock techniques of all kinds, and organized very well with lots of pictures. i would not recommend it as a primer tho, as the info could be overwhelming to someone who has never knit a sock before.

This book appears to have been translated from German. It also appears that the translator was not a knitter, or at least, not a sock knitter. I am an experienced sock knitter, but I am scratching my head many times as I try to figure out just what is trying to be said.

I picked this up in a quest to better understand the different kinds of heels and toes that you can use to get a better fitting sock. This book did not disappoint in its thorough coverage of these topics. It's a really useful resource is you are beginner or experienced sock knitter.

There is many ways to put a heel, turn a heel and knit toes on a sock. This is a very good tool for knitters that are starting socks or sock knitters who desire a challenge!
