Unfortunately, Lamar is my client. I had to give you that petition. It was my job.”“Don’t remind me,” I snarled as I felt my face gnarl, “Where is the snake.”“He went to see his girlfriend.”I jerked upright. “Girlfriend? Is that what this is about? He torpedoes my life, I faint and he marches off to see a girlfriend.”I saw empathy in his eyes. “Apparently.”My nostrils flared in reaction to my emotive state. “I busted ass for five years to put that snake through medical school and this is how he repays me.” I shook my head. “I guess I really never knew him.”“He’s changed. Success has made his head swell. I know this is tough, but you’re better off without him. The three of us go clear back to college, but I always knew you were the nicer person.”“Thanks Dan.” I hugged Dan, but felt dizzy, so I lay back against the armrest. “I’ll bet you’d never do anything as seedy as that?”Dan’s baby blue eyes looked conflicted, he opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but he didn’t.I pursed my lips. “Humph, I should have married you.”Dan’s eyes widened. He fidgeted and once again acted as if he would speak, but he remained silent. My voice sounded whiny as I bemoaned my situation, “What am I going to do? I have no money, no job, no place to live.”Dan’s hand softly stroked my forehead. “You have your old condo.”“It’s rented, out.”“Not anymore. Lamar wouldn’t renew the lease and kicked the tenants out. That’s where your things are being delivered.”I raised my hands and flared my fingers to emphasize what I was about to impart, “That’s fine, but I still have no job, or money.”“You’ll get money too. Don’t worry.”“When? How much?”“I’ll explain it all to you. Tell me. Not that you could have kept working at the medical office, but how come you stopped working there?”I rolled my eyes. “That was Lamar’s idea. He decided, about six months ago, since the practice was doing so well, I should stay at home and join charities. That it looked bad to have the wife working there as if we were barely maki…” I paused while an epiphany took shape in my mind....

From the countless instances of shifting points of view between the heroine and the hero that weren't clearly delineated to supposedly "sexy" dialogue so unintentionally laughable even the worst porn flicks wouldn't go near, DUMPED! is filled to the brim with all those painfully bad tropes we fans of IR had hoped were going the way of the dodo. DUMPED! features the cheating black male spouse who dumps the loyal black wife for the big-breasted white woman (a stripper), the TSTL heroine whose parents who won't accept their grown-ass daughter dating a white man, and sex scenes that make Beatrice Small read like Shakespeare. This is the book to read quickly and move on. I love interracial romances, but find myself asking why some authors write as if they don't.Poor Lila pulls up to her driveway to find her successful cosmetic surgeon husband packing up her belongings and moving her out of their expensive home. She's then served divorce papers by her husband's lawyer and family best friend Daniel--a man whom she's had a thing for since their college days, but because her parents have a thing against white men she chooses the nice, stable black guy instead. The only awesome character in this book is Letta Storm, an eccentric hot-shot divorce lawyer who seems to be the only one with her head on straight. She was an absolute joy to read about and I found myself wishing this book was about her. In fact, the two star rating is because of Letta. I just didn't like nor care about Lila. And seriously, if I had a dollar for every time Lila's vagina got "reamed" or had "creme" (not cream) flowing from it, I'd be able to single-handledly bankroll President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign. Hell, my happy parts started wincing painfully every time I read about Lila's vagina being hammered. I get the whole idea about rough sex, but really give the old puss a few days to heal, okay? Here are just a small sampling of the descriptive gems: "Without warning, his smooth tongue plunged into my lusty chamber, reaming its walls and causing me to nearly jump out of my restraints.""I wanted his silky tongue buried deep into my boiling snatch...""I love how your p*ssy sucks at my prick like a vacuum..."Now, I know firsthand how tough it can be to write good sex scenes, but sometimes less is definitely more and calling a "p*ssy" a "p*ssy" and a "c*ck" a "c*ck" is really all it takes.

Talk about not knkowing your friends. Dan would have never thought that his best friend would just dump his wife and try to leave her with next to nothing. Well,Dan can truly say that good things come to those who wait. He loved his best friends wife for as long as he had known her. Now she was his to tresure.

Dumped! had a shocking beginning where Lila Patterson goes home after being stood up for lunch by her husband, Dr. Lamar Patterson. When she arrives home, in her front yard she sees her husband with an old friend and some movers that are putting all Lila's belongings into a moving van. The friend, Daniel Westbrook, is also Lamar's lawyer and is being told by Lamar to "do it". Daniel serves Lila with divorce papers. Lila has no idea this is coming and is absolutely shocked. She then finds out that Lamar is going to see his girlfriend (another shocker) and had been cheating on her for years. Lila had dated Daniel 9 years ago but wasn't comfortable with an interracial relationship so she didn't stay with Daniel. Daniel didn't care about the interracial thing and had always loved Lila so after a while he made her aware of his feelings. They had to be careful about being seen together since he was Lamar's lawyer but they worked it out.I liked the way that Daniel tried to make sure Lila didn't get shafted in the divorce by recommending a really good lawyer to her. It was also good to hear him say what a loser Lamar was in handling the divorce so badly. I was so glad that Lamar got a taste of his own medicine in the end - even if he didn't know it.The descriptions were amazing. Each scene was set out so clearly that I could easily picture everything. The characters were also very well developed. When an author takes the time to get the reader to feel an connection with their characters - any sort of connection - that author has succeeded in one of the most difficult tasks they can have. I really liked Lila and Daniel and really didn't like Lamar. But we were not suppose to like him, so that's good. After reading the blurb I expected this to be a sad story but it wasn't! OK getting served divorce papers without warning is sad but after that it's a pretty happy story. This book had some funny and sad times which made it an entertaining read and I recommend.

So far this is my favorite Dee Dawning book. The characters were likable and the villain was properly despicable. This is another Letta Storm novella although this is not listed as a series with the similarly titled "Duped!" In this novella Lila gets unceremoniously dumped by her husband of many years. I know that this is a novella and the author is trying to squeeze in as much steamy sex as she can, but the one part of the storyline that I didn't really like was that even though Daniel is Lamar's lawyer, (view spoiler)[he still starts up with Lila. Granted, he's apparently loved her for years, but I just am disturbed by the ethical dilemma of Dan being Lamar's lawyer and sleeping with his client's wife. I think at the outset, Daniel should have just quit as Lamar's lawyer when he found out Lamar was cheating on Lila and wanting to publicly dump her. I would have liked Daniel much better were that the case. Additionally, he gives Dee advice that seems unethical as well based on his conflict of interest. (hide spoiler)]

This book had an interesting storyline. I did like the book very much but the only problems I had was with the actual structure and writing of the novel. Another problem I had was that the author did not really separate the reasons that they suddenly (or not so suddenly) fell head over heels in love. As well as the untold story of how Dan and Lila actually met etc. it was just missing backstory. Maybe it would have been better with some flashbacks. Almost left out that I love Lila's character as well as Letta and Dan and also Cami!

I thought this was a good, quick and sexy read. Danny and Lila finally got their happily ever after. It took them 9 years before they were finally together. The jack a#% of an ex-husband who thought he was getting over and shafting her by leaving her for a stripper. Well he himself got shafted in the end. Justice was truly served.Letta who was Lila kick a#% attorney she have a story because she is quite the firecracker character.

Great Story! Loved how though the beginning was tramatic and heartful to Lila, she needed that to enter into the life that was meant for her. By giving that all up she 'found' the love of her life staring her in the face and started the family she always wanted! Great book!

No,Just no! this author also writes alot of menage books I see so that makes her an author I'll stay away from, because her M/F books aren't good romances either.

This book had a very interesting storyline, the characters were likeable but I hate that instant love thing that happens between characters.
