Genre-busting surprise.I've been so delighted with the author's Druid series, which starts with Anam Cara, that I decided to give this little book a try.I was ambling along reading which appeared to be a sweet and enjoyable version of a common romance genre story when I encountered what I *thought* was going to be one of the genre traditions I find most annoying ... you know, the part where the hero and heroine go back and forth, both for one reason or other stubbornly clinging to preconceptions and old beliefs that we, the readers, know are ridiculously standing in the way of a really perfect relationship. I've decided that romance authors do that when they don't have any real plot ideas.**Spoiler Alert**WELL! Imagine my surprise when, in the next chapter, the hero simply cuts through all the BS, announces that he's not gonna do whatever it is the heroine is convinced he'll do to hurt her, and so let's get married.I literally sat there and cheered!**Spoiler Alert OFF (it's safe to read this part)**It's a fun book, very different from her historicals, and a kind of Bon-Bon rather than a full hot fudge sundae. But If you want an evening's light fun, this is an exceptionally good choice, and more than worth the small price.

Kincaid crafts a vivid contemporary romance with realistic problems and mature love with "Something More." Nora Emerson lives in Summerville, a quiet town next to the shore of Lake Ontario in upstate New York. At 43, Nora's resigned to living the rest of her life without a man – until Nick McPherson comes to town.Nick and Nora graduated high school in 1985. Now a little older, and wiser, the unlikely couple decide to embark on a fling. Both Nick and Nora, however, have a lot of baggage, but their fling offers the hope of something more. Dare the couple let go and trust in love?Kincaid's writing is sharp, capturing the small town feel of Summerville with rich authenticity. The dialogue is crisp. The plot flows well, keeping the reader engaged. Nick and Nora are rich characters. Nick has his life on track after making a series of bad choices. Nora is just learning to trust in herself again. I enjoyed both these character very much.Kincaid's love scenes are passionate and filled with electricity. Something More is something that's irresistible!

Nick McPherson served time for his crimes back in the day. Reformed now with a successful business to run and a kid sister to raise, he has enough going on without adding sexy Nora Emerson to the mix.Used, abused, discouraged and divorced, Nora half-heartedly celebrates a fourth decade birthday with friends and inadvertently raises the ire, then interest, of the bad boy from her past Nick.Second chance romances are usually the most satisfying. Something More provides characters to admire in situations to cheer them through.

Really enjoyed this book, the writing is clean and the characters well rounded. I can't wait to read more from this author. If you like reunion stories about couples who never would have been but eventually find each other this is exactly the book for you. Both Nora and Nick have ghosts from their past haunting them but Nick isn't willing to give up. As they work through their issues you see the amazing love between them.

Good one. It's often hit or miss with freebies, but this one was quite enjoyable. Kudos to Ms. Kincaid and my thanks. I've found a new author.
