Must-read for any Mets fan - wonderful retelling of the Mets story from inception through the 1969 World Series. Really captures the history of the franchise in the mid-60s as they moved away from the Stengel years. Read this along with Joy in Mudville and New York Mets 1962-69 to brush up on your Mets history!

One of the first Mets histories, and one of the best. Koppett is a fine writer, and provides lots of background on how the team came to be, and the first few awful seasons before the 1969 Miracle Mets. (An updated edition, issued in 1974, includes information on the next four seasons, including the 1973 NL champions.)Marked down one star only because it's been out of print for nearly 40 years. Some publisher should want this in their catalogue.

Endlessly amusing tale of the Mets from 1962 to the 69 championship. A must for the true fan.
